Job Title: MERN Stack Developer Intern

Industry: Technology Web & Application Development (building customer-facing web apps and internal SaaS tools). We deliver modern responsive web experiences using JavaScript-first stacks to solve product and business problems for clients and internal teams. This is an on-site internship based in India for candidates eager to gain hands-on MERN stack experience.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Develop responsive component-driven user interfaces using and integrate them with backend services.
  • Design and implement backend APIs and services using and to support application features.
  • Model query and maintain MongoDB collections; implement reliable CRUD operations and data validation.
  • Participate in the full development lifecycle: translate requirements into code write unit tests and fix defects.
  • Follow Git-based workflows: commit branch raise PRs and participate in code reviews to maintain code quality.
  • Troubleshoot performance and cross-browser issues; optimise front-end and back-end code for speed and reliability.
  • Estimate small tasks break features into actionable tickets and maintain clear status updates in sprint tracking tools.
  • Collaborate with designers product managers and engineers in daily stand-ups grooming sessions and pairing exercises.

Example internship projects (typical scope):

  • Build a production-ready feature for a customer-facing web app (UI components API endpoints tests and deployment instructions).
  • Implement an authentication & authorization flow (signup/login sessions/JWT role-based access control tests).
  • Create an internal admin dashboard or analytics component that consumes APIs and visualises data with charts and filters.
  • Develop a small microservice or API integration that processes data persists it to MongoDB and exposes endpoints with proper validation.
  • Performance improvements and bug-fix sprints on an existing module to improve load times reliability or test coverage.

Expected deliverables & schedule:

  • Typical internship length: 3-6 Month
  • Per sprint deliverables: one or more completed tickets with linked PRs passing tests documented README/usage notes and merged code where applicable.
  • Mid-internship checkpoint (around week 4-6): working demo of progress summary of learning and updated roadmap for remaining weeks.
  • Final deliverable: a production-ready feature or service complete with tests documentation a demo/presentation and notes for future work.

Mentorship & Evaluation

Mentorship cadence:

  • Assigned mentor (senior engineer) who provides technical guidance and career coaching throughout the internship.
  • Weekly 1:1 meetings with the mentor to review progress unblock issues and set goals for the coming week.
  • Regular code review feedback: at least two focused reviews per sprint with actionable comments and follow-up.
  • Pair-programming or shadowing sessions at least once per sprint to transfer practical skills and patterns.
  • Daily/regular participation in team stand-ups for alignment and visibility.

Evaluation criteria (how performance is measured):

  • Technical correctness & completeness (approx. 40%): correct implementation meeting requirements and stable behavior.
  • Code quality & testing (approx. 25%): clean readable code adequate unit/integration tests and adherence to style and patterns.
  • Problem solving & learning (approx. 15%): ability to break down tasks learn new concepts and apply feedback.
  • Collaboration & communication (approx. 10%): clear updates responsiveness in reviews and stand-ups and teamwork.
  • Reliability & delivery (approx. 10%): meeting agreed deadlines producing demonstrable outcomes each sprint.

Feedback & milestones:

  • Mid-term review: formal feedback session with mentor and manager; discussion of strengths areas to improve and potential for conversion to full-time.
  • Final review: assessment of deliverables demo and recommendation (pass needs improvement or conversion suggestion).
  • Documentation of feedback and a short written self-assessment are expected at mid and end points.

Internship Deliverables (concrete examples)

  • Feature PR merged to main branch with clear commit history and passing CI checks.
  • Automated tests covering critical paths (unit and/or integration tests) and clear instructions to run them.
  • README and developer notes describing setup architecture decisions and any trade-offs.
  • Demo recording or live presentation of completed work during the mid and final reviews.
  • Postmortem or improvement plan for work completed including next steps and refactoring ideas.
