Essential Functions:
- Prepares or directs preparation of variety of food as with hot foods and desserts as indicated on menus provided for patients and employee food service while utilizing standardized recipes.
- Estimates production requirements and controls standardized service portions while eliminating overproduction and waste.
- Maintains record of menu changes and reason thereof.
- Provides tray line services.
- Regularly monitors equipment and cooking area to assure required safety and sanitation.
- Reports repair and maintenance needs to the Dietary Manager.
- Assists with cafeteria set-up.
- Pre-preparation for the next day meals.

Requirements
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Must be willing to obtain/maintain Food Handlers Certification.
Experience:
Previous commercial (e.g. hospital school restaurant) cooking experience preferred experience cooking therapeutic diets. Head cook experience preferred.
Job Knowledge & Skills:
Capable of performing duties as assigned. Ability to read and write English. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Good verbal communication skills. Must demonstrate reasonableness and good judgment.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Dietary Supervisor the Cook is responsible for maintaining high standards of quality food production in a sanitary and timely manner while utilizing standardized recipes.
