Were currently searching for a Psychiatrist to join our Cook Counseling Center team in Blacksburg VA to help us in our mission. So if youre passionate about student mental health and center-wide operations please keep reading.

HERES WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE:
1) Youll be joining the Cook Counseling Center team a department centered on promoting student learning development retention and holistic well-being by providing resources for improving mental health and identifying psychological barriers to academic success.
2) Youll be reporting to the Associate Director of Psychiatry/Chief Medical Officer in either a 10-month or 11-month (academic year) or a 12-month 100% administrative professional appointment depending on candidate preference and departmental need.
3) Youll work with a multidisciplinary staff of counselors psychologists psychiatrists social workers nurse practitioners psychology interns psychiatry residents and practicum students to deliver services that maintain the highest standards of professional and ethical care.
4) Youll be responsible for providing integrated psychiatric assessment diagnosis and ongoing treatment of undergraduate and graduate students. Treatment includes developing evidence-based pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment plans to address student needs within a flexible multidisciplinary and multimodal system of care. This position requires effective working relationships across the VT community to include Schiffert Health Center campus wellness partners faculty and staff to ensure a collaborative support network on campus.
5) Youll be offered a base compensation package between $230000 - $275000 along with a comprehensive benefits package which includes health insurance paid leave retirement tuition assistance VT discounts and so much more!Advertised salary range reflects differentiation in appointment types with the lower end of the scale being most appropriate for 10-month appointments and vice versa.

We promote student learning development retention and holistic wellbeing by providing resources for improving mental health and identifying psychological barriers to academic success. The CCC supports these efforts through psycho-educational programming individual group crisis and psychiatric services. CCCs commitment to service also includes multidisciplinary training consultation advocacy and research. The center is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and has a doctoral internship program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA).

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must have a Doctor of Medicine (or Doctor of Osteopathy) degree and Board Certification in Psychiatry with a medical license to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Active federal DEA registration with prescriptive authority in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Training and experience in delivering culturally competent interventions.
Well-developed counseling and clinical supervision skills
Strong assessment diagnostic and therapeutic skills within evidence-based practice.
Experience managing crisis situations completing risk assessments and disposition planning to address safety risks.
A self-motivated self-directed commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice.
The energy to flexibly manage the professional demands of the role while maintaining positive and healthy relationships.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues with acceptance respect and trust.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience and interest in working with college-student/young adult population
Previous training and/or experience in a college mental health setting

$230000 - $ position may be hired as a 10-month (academic-year) 11-month or 12-month appointment depending on candidate preference and departmental need.
