Job Summary
As a Staff Search Relevance Engineer youll help millions of customers find what they need quickly and easily on and in our app. Youll lead efforts to make search smarter and more intuitive using semantic search personalization and machine learning. If you love solving complex problems and improving customer experiences this role is for you.
This role is hybrid which means you will work some days at our corporate office in Richfield Minnesota and some days virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location. What youll do
- Optimize search relevance using semantic and lexical techniques
- Design and tune ranking algorithms to improve results
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to deliver impactful solutions
- Use experimentation and A/B testing to validate improvements
- Build frameworks for offline evaluation and quick iteration
- Act as a technical leader mentoring others and influencing system design
Basic qualifications
- 5years of professional software development experience with a Bachelors degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience.
- 5 years of experience with Object Oriented Software to include Java Kotlin or Python
- 1 year of experience with Elasticsearch Apache Solr OpenSearch or other search engines or vector databases
Preferred qualifications
- 7 years of relevant professional experience
- 3 years of experience with search engines or vector databases
