Investment Banking Summer Analyst Intern

Program Overview:

Summer Analysts will participate in a one week training and orientation program and are assigned to a specific Investment Banking product or industry group during the addition to this on-the-job experience the program includes the opportunity to network across various business groups learn about the culture of BMO Capital Markets participate in training and learning seminars and obtain career guidance from dedicated mentors. The program is considered an initial interviewing step for the full time BMO Capital Markets Investment and Corporate Banking Development Program.

Responsibilities:

As an Investment Banking Summer Analyst at BMO Capital Markets you will gain valuable exposure to a wide number of industries and work with a variety of financial products including public and private debt and equity financings mergers and acquisitions and financial advisory. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Running valuation analyses;

  • Performing complex financial modeling;

  • Conducting industry and company research and analysis;

  • Developing client presentations;

  • Writing internal and external marketing memoranda;

  • Performing other tasks supporting client relationships and business development.

This position is ideally suited to talented highly motivated individuals who seek to build a solid comprehensive foundation in the basic skills of investment banking.

Qualifications:

As an Analyst you will be part of a dynamic investment banking environment. We are looking for highly motivated mature individuals with:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program; graduating in December 2027 or Spring 2028;

  • An undergraduate degree in finance math accounting engineering economics statistics

  • Proven track record of excellent academic standing extra curricular participation and demonstrated interest in finance

  • Current member of Lime Connect Canada

  • Excellent analytical skills in business financial and credit analysis areas;

  • Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding team environment;

  • Demonstrated proactivity resiliency and an unfailingly positive attitude;

  • Ability to attentively review assess and provide detailed information daily on multiple projects in an organized manner;

  • Excellent capacity to independently function as part of a team through self-motivation;

Corporate Banking Summer Analyst Intern

Program Overview:

Summer analysts will start the internship by completing one week of onboarding and training and will gain valuable experience and exposure to a wide number of industries during the addition to this on-the-job experience the program includes the opportunity to network across various business groups learn about the culture of BMO Capital Markets participate in training and learning seminars and obtain career guidance from dedicated mentors.

Responsibilities:

As a Corporate Banking Analyst at BMO Capital Markets you will gain valuable exposure to different portfolios depending on the location and client sector.

Key responsibilities may include:

  • Processing client requests (e.g. new credit facilities and extensions and/or amendments to existing credit facilities).

  • Completing annual / interim credit reviews include industry and financial analysis comprising of: operating performance cash flow leverage coverage and liquidity as well as capital-at-risk and other regulatory capital calculations.

  • Monitoring performance of portfolio companies against credit terms and conditions and identify changes in the financial condition of a client.

  • Preparing presentation materials and relationship profitability assessments which involve liaising with other product and industry groups within BMO Capital Markets.

  • Performing other duties including industry and company-specific research as well as ad hoc projects for senior management.

Global Markets Summer Analyst Intern

Program Overview:

Sales & Trading Analysts work in the Global Markets Group of BMO Capital Markets comprising Global Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities (FICC) Global Equity Products (GEP) and Cross Asset Solutions (CAS) serving our corporate institutional and government clients.

Summer Analysts are assigned to a specific Global Markets group during the addition to the on-the-job experience each intern will complete one week of training and participate in professional development sessions and events throughout the summer. This program offers handson exposure to live markets direct interaction with traders and sales professionals and the opportunity to be considered for fulltime roles upon graduation.

Summer interns have the opportunity to join one of the following areas within Global Markets:

  • Global Equity Products

  • Fixed Income Currencies and Commodities

  • Cross Asset Solutions

All candidates will go through a rigorous interview process and team assignments will be made at the start of the summer program based on previous experience interest and educational background.

Responsibilities:

The role includes performing a variety of analytical and administrative projects and tasks. These assignments will vary widely from day to day and may include developing presentation materials using PowerPoint and Excel programming and shadowing.

Qualifications:

We are looking for highly motivated individuals who can work well in a team based environment and seek a challenge. They must possess:

  • Enrolled in an undergraduate degree program; graduating in December 2027 or Spring 2028;

  • Proven track record of excellent academic standing extra curricular participation and demonstrated interest in financial markets; with knowledge of programming and quantitative trading as an asset;

  • Current member of Lime Connect Canada

  • General knowledge of financial strategy / accounting / economic / capital management principles;

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location skills experience education and qualifications for the role and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
