The Co-Op student will have a unique opportunity to contribute to Emerging Technologies initiatives in biopharmaceutical manufacturing. They will be involved in the implementation of innovative solutions including new manufacturing methods in upstream and downstream processing as well as process analytical technology (PAT) sensors and modeling to support next-generation manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals.

You will be responsible for:

• Perform a variety of lab experiments to support biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes including cell culture downstream processing and formulation of drug substance.
• Set up and operate small-scale bioreactors perform offline assays and analyze spectral data to ensure flawless execution of experiments.
• Conduct comparative experiments using PAT and other process outputs while contributing to the modeling of the biochemical data for analysis and optimization.

Qualifications

Education:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Pharmacy Biology Chemistry Chemical Engineering Bioengineering or a related field. Equivalent experience in these fields will also be considered.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

• Strong coursework background in chemistry biology pharmacy or a related field.
• Experience with programming languages such as R Matlab Python etc. for data modeling and trend analysis
• Permanently authorized to work in the U.S. must not require sponsorship of an employment visa (e.g. H-1B or green card) at the time of application or in the future. Students currently on CPT OPT or STEM OPT usually requires future sponsorship for long term employment and do not meet the requirements for this program unless eligible for an alternative long-term status that does not require company sponsorship.

Preferred:

• Knowledge or experience in cell culture chromatography or other related processing steps in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with spectroscopic techniques or experience with spectroscopic instrumentation.
• Understanding of process modeling scale-up principles or statistical analysis is a plus.
