Role: Senior Engineer 5G (Network-as-a-Service) SME

We are partnering with a leading telecom client to hire 5G Core Senior Engineeran expert whose depth of knowledge in 3GPP 5G Core standards is unparalleled. As the SME for 5G Core & NaaS Architecture you will be the ultimate technical authority within our team. Your primary mandate is to ensure our NaaS platform are developed with use cases such as 5G Dynamic slicing CAMARA/GSMA Open gateway APIs implemented and optimized to its fullest potential to serve as the robust foundation for our Dynamic Network Slicing and CAMARA API initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Teamss expert on 3GPP 5G Core standards (Release 16/17/18) including detailed knowledge of SBA NFs (AMF SMF UPF NRF NSSF PCF UDM AUSF) and interfaces (N1-N15 N22 N29).
- Lead and drive the technical design and validation of 5G dynamic slicing use cases on critical 5GC functionalities including Registration PDU Session Establishment Policy Control and Security for 5G dynamic slicing use cases.
- Provide deep technical guidance on the integration of Network Exposure Functions (NEF) for CAMARA/GSMA Open Gateway API implementation and drive the Open gateway initiatives for technical implementation.
- Guide developers for 5G core domain expertise.
- Evolve as expert to drive automation and AI driven implementation of platforms to drive performance and cost efficiencies.
- Architect the implementation of E2E network slicing from the Core perspective providing expert advice on the role of core functions such as NSSF NRF and PCF in slice selection authentication and policy enforcement in 5G dynamic slicing platform.
- Advise the Orchestration team on the specific 5G Core requirements and configurations needed to instantiate and manage network slices (e.g. SLA QoS slice-specific NFs).
- Work with the Mobile Planning team to define how core network resources are partitioned and allocated to meet slice isolation and performance guarantees.
- Architect the integration between the 5G Cores Network Exposure Function (NEF) HSS and the CAMARA service layer. Provide expert-level design input for implementing and customizing GSMA Open Gateway APIs (e.g. Device Location Quality on Demand Number Verification).
Requirements
- 4-5 years of experience in telecommunications network architecture with focus on 4G EPC and predominantly 5G Core network design and implementation.
- Hands-on experience with the lifecycle management of 5G Core Network Functions in a cloud-native environment (VMs Containers Kubernetes).
- Proven experience designing or implementing solutions involving the Network Exposure Function (NEF) and API frameworks (e.g. CAMARA).
- Deep understanding of the 5G Cores role in End-to-End Network Slicing.
- Knowledge of Kubernetes containers Orchestration and the CNCF landscape.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines will be a plus.
- Basic knowledge of programming languages C or Java is a plus.
- Bachelors degree in a relevant technical field.
