Job Summary

Job Title: NG911 Network Engineer (RI 0758A)
Location: 2 MTC
Hybrid: Work location & Remote (X days in office/X days remote)

Note: Normal Business Hours Monday through Friday (not including a mandatory unpaid meal break after 6 hours of work) 35 work hours per week. If the consultant works more than 35 hours per week the consultant must request overtime in the Agencys timekeeping system and the project manager must approve those hours worked above the weekly maximum.

Job Description Justification:
This request is for a NG911 Subject Matter Expert (SME) needed to continue the project work for the Class 1/2/3 and Call Handling upgrades of the Next Generation 9-1-1 emergency call system and provide expertise and technical knowledge during the configuration and test phases.

NG911 Network Engineer :
Evaluate and recommend network architecture solutions based on performance stability availability cost-efficiency and development requirements needed to support new applications and the users in 9-1-1 call taking and dispatch environment.
Work with vendor(s) and project manager(s) to develop review and update network architecture standards related to the overall system architecture.
Collaborate with and advise colleagues on policies and procedures and best practices for network infrastructure.
Develop and coordinate system lifecycle management with IT Services including developing or reviewing asset configuration and security for network system.
Manage the implementation and execution of the requirements management process including elicitation and verification.

Scope of Services:

MANDATORY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE Note: Candidates who do not have the mandatory skills will not be
considered

At least 12 years of hands-on experience at senior level as an audio/telephony systems SME.

Network Design and Architecture:
  • Topology Design: Ability to design network topologies based on organizational requirements.
  • Scalability Planning: Designing networks that can scale with organizational growth.
  • Routing Protocols: Proficiency in protocols such as OSPF EIGRP and BGP.
  • Switching Protocols: Knowledge of VLANs STP and other switching technologies.
  • Understanding of TCP/IP: In-depth knowledge of the TCP/IP protocol suite.
  • Subnetting and IP Addressing: Ability to design and implement IP addressing.
Network Troubleshooting:
  • Diagnostic Tools: Utilizing tools like ping traceroute and network analyzers.
  • Problem Resolution: Efficiently identifying and resolving network issues.
  • Ethernet VLANs and STP: Deep understanding of Ethernet technologies.
  • IPv6 Implementation: Knowledge of IPv6 and its implementation.
  • Network Documentation: Maintaining comprehensive network documentation.
  • Report Generation: Creating reports on network performance and incidents.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:
  • Team Collaboration: Working effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Client Communication: Communicating technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Learning Agility: Willingness and ability to quickly learn new concepts and technologies.
  • Extensive experience in the following technology areas: Public Safety systems Quality Assurance Systems Design

Required Education:

Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Engineering Telecommunications or a related field OR equivalent combination of education and extensive professional technical training or certifications in networking telephony or public safety systems are highly desirable.
