DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Sr Manager Finance Transformation the Manager Financial Systems will primarily be responsible for the operational aspects of the Finance(FICO) SAP modules within the companys operations including providing functional expertise guidance presentation and instruction on system best practices to process owners. This role will also be responsible for gathering understanding and documenting business processes and the requirements and specifications needed to recommend and implement new solutions that will enable the Finance team to achieve its goals. This role operates at the intersection of Finance Accounting and Information Systems supporting business strategic systems planning project management and sustainment while championing modernization and automation initiatives.



DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

Leadership

  • Provide technical leadership for enterprise application support including strategic systems planning project management and sustainment support.
  • Maintain ongoing support for business unit leaders guiding future technology planning and issue resolution to meet business needs and organizational objectives.
  • Lead and mentor staff collaborating with Human Resources on recruiting hiring training and performance management.
  • Assign and coordinate work to team members track project deliverables facilitate status meetings and provide regular updates.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and stakeholders participating in business roadmap discussions and ensuring awareness of technology options.
  • Execute continuous improvement activities to enhance process effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Champion initiatives for system automation and enhancement identifying and implementing improvements to existing technologies and workflows.
  • Lead the optimization of the financial close cycle and advocate for strong data governance of financial information.

Financial Systems

  • Supervise and support Financial Systems including but not limited to Open Text SAP FI/CO and SAP BPC modules to enhance the Companys business functionality and overall performance
  • Work with the broader Finance team to recommend changes and gather and interpret user/system requirements into design specifications
  • Collaborate with application developer/designers on configuration and functional designs; address any potential design development issues
  • Lead users in detailed business process blueprint activities and provide or lead the end-user training in the Financial Systems
  • Manage projects that improve processes and reporting ensuring timely delivery quality and accountability of the project completion
  • Supervise and review work of the financial system analyst and other system required checks including the configuration of system integration points between SAP FI/CO and other integrated modules
  • Work with the IT team to ensure system requirements are met including associated validation controls and integration is appropriate
  • Own and coordinate the performance of testing at all stages of development for processes and system changes including data validation and training to end users
  • Govern data integrity consulting with appropriate stakeholders to ensure that data quality and security is contemplated and maintained through all process and system changes
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint); specifically utilizing Excel for data analysis and modeling
  • Advanced proficiency in SAP FI/CO SAP BW/BI Reporting SAP BPC & SAP/4 Hana and other analytic tools
  • Knowledge of General Ledger (FI-GL) and financial close cycles
  • Demonstrated experience in system integration and project development/management
  • Strong verbal written and presentation communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical skills primarily with respect to financial analysis and complex modeling
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with all levels of employees through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills in order to manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines
  • Demonstrates initiative in recognizing opportunities for improvement and efficiency with a willingness to challenge status quo

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 812 years of experience in application functional support/leadership or project management building or supporting enterprise applications and financial systems.
  • Proven business analysis skills and experience working on financial system projects with an excellent attention to detail and understanding of impact when change occurs to scope or timeline. Ability to dig deep into problems and domain areas.
  • Experience in SAP BPC SAP BW Project Systems and SAP HANA would be an asset
  • Bachelors degree in computer science Accounting Business Information Systems or related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) or equivalent would be an asset.
  • Technical proficiencies in applying generally accepted accounting principles; U.S. GAAP knowledge would be an asset.
  • Good understanding of financial principles and processes (e.g. Accounting month-end close automated accounting entries reconciliation processes)
  • Experience working in a regulated environment preferably within the electrical utility industry would be an asset.
