Position Summary: The Shipping and Receiving Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shipping receiving and warehouse functions to ensure the efficient accurate and timely movement of goods.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise schedule and coordinate shipping receiving and warehouse personnel to meet operational goals.
- Oversee the loading unloading inspection and documentation of incoming and outgoing shipments.
- Verify accuracy of shipments bills of lading packing slips and purchase orders.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures customer requirements and transportation regulations.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular cycle counts.
- Work closely with production purchasing and customer service to support on-time deliveries.
- Select and coordinate with carriers freight forwarders and courier services.
- Train and mentor team members on proper material handling safety practices and company procedures.
- Investigate and resolve shipping/receiving discrepancies or damage claims.
- Enforce workplace health safety and housekeeping standards in the warehouse.
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Prepare and maintain performance reports on shipping accuracy turnaround times and carrier performance.
- Follow all Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and Company Health & Safety Policies and Procedures.
Educational Requirements:
- Post Secondary education in logistics supply chain or related field preferred.
Required Skills & Expertise:
- Post-secondary education in logistics supply chain or related field preferred.
- Minimum 35 years of experience in shipping/receiving or warehouse operations with at least 12 years in a supervisory role.
- Knowledge of freight carriers logistics documentation and customs processes (if applicable).
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Proficiency with ERP systems warehouse management software and Microsoft Office.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to motivate and manage a team.
- Ability operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment (license/certification may be required).
- Valid G drivers license
- Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Equipment/ Tools/ Technology Used:
- Forklift experience (counter balance)
- ERP experience (Visual Manufacturing)
