Position Summary
The Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering at Indiana University Bloomington ( IUB ) invites applications for a full-time non-tenure track lecturer position in the Informatics Department to begin on August 1 2026. The Luddy School of Informatics Computing and Engineering at Indiana University is one of the worlds largest and most comprehensive technology and information schools. It offers a broad range of undergraduate and graduate programs in areas such as computer science informatics data science information and library science and intelligent systems engineering as well as specialized fields like human-centered computing and health informatics. Within the school the Department of Informatics is a multidisciplinary academic community committed to excellence in research teaching and in fostering an intellectually rich environment for students and faculty. Our departments academic offering spans a broad range of areas including technical foundation humancomputer interaction and design data and information representation social and organizational informatics ethical and cultural studies of technology together to several informatics application areas such as cybersecurity web development health informatics virtual reality complexity and network science and computational social science. We expect the successful candidate to hold at least an MS in Informatics or a closely related field and to be able to teach in at least one of the thematic areas listed above. Additional desired qualifications include a PhD degree the ability to teach across multiple areas of the curriculum strong engagement with students from varied backgrounds documented excellence in teaching and experience with curriculum or course design. The successful candidate should also show adaptability and an ongoing commitment to aligning teaching practices and course content with an evolving socio-technical landscape. Lecturers in the Luddy School are responsible for teaching courses supervising associate instructors developing instructional materials and lab/discussion content grading and contributing to service and program development. After successful completion of a probationary period lecturers are eligible for long-term contracts and promotion within the teaching faculty ranks.
