China Research Intern PT Defense (Remote/Hybrid)

Location: Remote in Washington DC Area

We are actively seeking a China Research Intern to support open-source research and translation products relating to Chinas military defense industrial base technological development and foreign policy.

Work Description:

China Research Interns at BluePath contribute to our research and translation work at all stages including by performing administrative tasks gathering data conducting open-source research and analysis editing reports proofreading translations generating data visualizations and testing software tools. The role is primarily remote but with a strong preference for candidates local to the DC area so they can join occasional in-person meetings and use equipment at our offices in Georgetown if needed.

Responsibilities: The China Research Intern will support tasks such as:

Open-source research
Translation work
Any other tasks as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

U.S. Citizen
Bachelors Degree
Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Masters or PhD program
Strong near-native Chinese reading skills
Ability to work 15-25 hours per week on a flexible schedule
Ability to work independently

Preferred Experience:

Chinese-to-English translation experience
A record of publications related to China especially related to defense and technology
Familiarity with Python and/or command line-based tools
Interest in data science and visualization
Time spent living in China
