Job Summary

Role: Data Platform Architect
Rates: up to $115.00 p/h INC - 6 month contract
Location: Toronto ON - Hybrid

CorGTA has partnered with a client in Toronto searching for a Data Platform Architect on an initial 6-month contract. The successful candidate must have strong business and technical acumen alongside a proven background of solutioning a modern data engineering practices. Reporting to the Director of Data Engineering & Operations the successful candidate will be impactful in the implementation of new tools technology and overall data principles / processes. Furthermore as a senior resource within the business the Data Architect will not have any direct reports however will be responsible for technical leadership and passive mentorship of team members.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Enterprise Architects and Solutions Architects to design enterprise grade solutions that leverage our data platforms
Provide technical leadership and guidance to Data Engineers and Senior Data Engineer as they build data pipelines and enhance our data platforms
Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their strategic objectives and operational challenges translating requirements into scalable data-driven solutions
Take a hands on approach to engineering spending some of their time building debugging supporting and working on our data platforms and pipelines
Collaborate with senior technical leaders in the planning of forward-looking data engineering technology roadmaps that aim to advance our engineering practices and operational capabilities

Key Skills Qualifications and Experience

10 years of experience in industries that can combine Data & Analytics Software Engineering Cloud Engineering DevOps with at least 5 years of experience in Data Engineering
3 years of experience as an individual contributor in a highly senior capacity e.g. Staff Engineer Principal Engineer Architect etc.
Expertise in Data Lake and Data Warehouse technologies including expert SQL skills (Snowflake preferred)
Advanced programming skills (Python or similar)
Deep experience with modern cloud services for compute storage and networking (AWS preferred Azure or GCP ok)
Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines Infrastructure-as-Code workflows Monitoring & Observability capabilities and related Software Engineering and DevOps disciplines
Experience with API and event-driven architectures to enable real-time data processing between microservices data pipelines and enterprise applications
Expertise across data governance and security practices like data lineage metadata management data cataloguing encryption IAM role-based access controls etc.
Proven ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to data engineers
Strong communication skills with the ability to explain highly complex technical subjects to a variety of audiences
