REFERENCEJUVENILE INTERVENTION OFFICERVIAJOB DESCRIPTIONS
The Juvenile Intervention Officer ensures referred youths receive the most appropriate services to effectively and efficiently serve the youth within the community. This will be accomplished through the provision of necessary and appropriate services as determined by the individualized needs of the youth based upon a service needs assessment and other appropriate tools.
Provides one or more core transition services specifically vocational services and/or educational services including mentoring and transportation services. Youth shall receive a combination of evidence-based services and value-added services to include employment readiness academic remediation life skills training and experiential education. Will be trained in evidence-based delinquency interventions LST (Life Skills Training) and SNAP (Stop Now and Plan). Both of these services will be delivered in a group setting to all applicable youths. All the groups will be provided in the evenings.
Follow the scope of services identified in Contract #10791 and SNAP Contract between the Department of Juvenile Justice the Department of Children and Families the Florida Network and the Seminole County Sheriffs Office. Follow any and all amendments to the scope of services outlined in these contracts.
Prepares and maintains administrative documentation as required. Prepares various specialized and statistical reports as required including assisting in daily monthly and annual data collection.
Performs other duties as assigned or as may be necessary in the efficient and effective performance of the position functions.
Develops and maintains relationships with judicial law enforcement schools and social and community organizations.
Knowledge of interviewing and counseling techniques. Ability to provide counseling and guidance services; to conduct and document interviews; to make recommendations concerning the documentation processing and disposition of delinquent juveniles; to work independently without constant supervision; to communicate both orally and in writing; to understand interpret and implement policies law and procedures in regards to Florida Statute Chapter 985; to plan organize prioritize and coordinate work assignments.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment for this position involves direct contact with arrested truant and runaway juveniles. Depending on job assignment the majority of the work is performed in either an office setting or has a heavy emphasis in field investigations. Job assignment may require court attendance and may include driving an agency vehicle. Work is performed twenty four hours a day seven days a week and may require the incumbent to work varied hours.

Special Requirements-Ability to behave respectably and with utmost integrity even when off duty. Work may including working weekends nights holidays and/or overtime or call outs; May be required to respond for any critical incident manmade or natural
Environmental- Exposure to varied weather conditions
External applicants for employment will submit to a thorough background investigation which includes but not limited to past employment/education verification driver license review credit history prior drug use history arrest/conviction record and computerized voice stress analysis (CVSA) testing. A certified examiner administers the CVSA with questions addressing illegal drug use and general questions of honesty and criminal history. Any dishonesty or deception on the Employment Application will disqualify your application.
The background investigation process may take 3-6 months depending upon the complexity of the applicants background and position for which youve applied. Applicants selected for employment will be provided a conditional offer and required to submit to a medical examination with drug screening.

An applicants tattoos and body ornamentation must be disclosed at the time of application and will be documented as part of the agencys review process even if otherwise meeting the Agencys policy.
