Job Summary

Permanent External Posting C BUS DRIVER ROUTE 9 (TEXADA ISLAND)

qathet School District is seeking a permanent Bus Driver to join the team 32.0 hours per week 10 months per year on Texada Island. Under the direction of the Garage Foreman this work involves the safe and efficient operation of a school bus in conformity with the provisions of the B.C. Motor Vehicle Act. Due to the nature of the position the ability and skill to interact positively with staff students and the public is required. A bus driver may also perform other duties in combination with bus driving.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates a school bus transporting children in a safe and efficient manner.
Supervises bussed pupils and reports disciplinary problems to the principal concerned.
Maintains vehicle in a sanitary condition by cleaning both interior and exterior of bus.
Ensures that minor repairs are carried out and that vehicles meet accepted standards of safety.

REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of Grade 12.
Current BC Class 2 Drivers License with Air Brake endorsement.
Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to the operation of a school bus required under the BC Motor Vehicle Act.
Skill in the safe and efficient operation and daily servicing of school buses.
Level 1 First Aid Certificate.
Bus Driving Experience.

Salary and Application Details

This is a unionized CUPE Local 476 position. It offers an hourly wage rate of $30.41 per hour. This position will begin as soon as possible.
