    POSITION SUMMARY:
    If you enjoy school-age students and want to be an integral part of theirpositive educational experience you could be an ideal candidate for these willprovide safe and efficient transportation of students and staffto and from school activity trips games and other events. As a part of your responsibilities you will develop and promote good community relations among stakeholders.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operate assigned school bus/vehicle in accordance with federal state municipal and district regulations policies and laws.
    • Follow route directions coordinate and maintain accurate descriptions of stop locations and times with Departmental Schedulers.
    • Regulate heating lighting and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.
    • Maintain student conduct that insures the safety of all students.
    • Issue written discipline reports as needed.
    • Perform pre and post route safety inspections on assigned vehicle.
    • Report all delays accidents/incidents immediately to transportation management or appropriate authorities.
    • Monitor passengers for medical or behavioral problems.
    • Administer first aid and provide written reports as required.
    • Aid in loading and unloading passengers via the stairs or lift mechanisms including securing wheelchairs mobility aids oxygen bottles band and athletic equipment or luggage as required by route assignment and need. Ensure restraints such as safety vests seat belts Child Safety Restraint Systems (CDRS) or other restraining devices are properly secured.
    • Collaborate with Director of Transportation or designee to accommodate requested route changes concerns or special requests.
    • Train passengers on proper emergency procedures in the event of an emergency.
    • Establish student staff and parental rapport that allows for a proactive response to potential problems.
    • Actively participate in meetings in-service and other required training.
    • Apply and implement knowledge skills and new understands to support Operations Maintenance and Transportation.
    • May perform vehicle maintenance.
    • Performs a variety of physical maintenance tasks in and around the Duell Service Center including climbing ladders to clean bus windows using an air blower on the grounds raking leaves removing snow (including shoveling paths to ensure student access to buses) mopping sweeping cleaning and maintaining the office space.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.

    Maintain accurate records in accordance with professional standards state guidelines and school system policy.

    EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE:
    High School Graduate or equivalent.
    Bilingual(preferred).
    Five (5) years of experience operating a motor vehicle.
    Bus driving experience(preferred).
    Operating knowledge of school bus school bus emergency equipment knowledge of the use of safety vest and other adaptive systems lifts and tie downs required upon completing District training.
    Driver fluency will be determined through the interview process.

    LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS:
    Valid Colorado Drivers License.
    Valid CDL with BP2S endorsement(or able to obtain within three weeks of hire date).
    Must maintain driving record that meets the standards of the District insurance policy.
    Valid CPR and First Aid Certification.
    Current DOT physical required.
    Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical and a drug & alcohol test prior to employment.
    Current First Aid and CPR(or obtained within the first ninety days of employment).

    ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
    Frequent lifting 5 (five) to 75 (seventy-five) pounds.
    Occasional lifting of up to one hundred fifty (150) pounds.
    Frequent to constant sitting and reaching.
    Occasional standing walking stooping bending kneeling squatting crawling and climbing.
    Visual concentration.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:
    Regular exposure to fumes airborne particles moving parts and vibration.
    Occasional exposure to adverse climate and weather conditions.
    Noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

    REPORTS TO:
    Director of Transportation or designee.

    LOCATION:
    DUELL Service Center

    SALARY:
    Starting rate is $26.65- $30.15 per hour based upon education and previous related experience.

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
    New hires or rehires will be responsible for the fingerprint processing fee required for background checks through the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
