What Youll Do

The Nuclear Maintenance Compliance Lead manages activities related to maintenance compliance throughout the organization and the site. The role will perform assessment and issues management functions throughout the Y-12 site to ensure Y-12 maintenance activities are compliant with procedures policies and orders. The Nuclear Maintenance Compliance Lead will work with other organizations senior leaders and YFO to ensure maintenance compliance issues are resolved in an efficient and effective manner.

Responsibilities

  • Apply the Y-12 issues management processes to prevent recurrence of performance issues.
    • Participate or lead in event investigations if needed including field walkdowns of the areas involved.
    • Represent Operations Support at the Issue Management Board.
    • Ensure corrective action plans adequately resolve the identified issue(s) including during action plan development satisfactory closure field validation and effectiveness reviews.
    • Coordinate with action owners and leadership to close issues and actions in accordance to assigned deadlines including resolution of technical or priority conflicts.
    • Provide detailed reports to Operations Support management on issues and action assigned to Operations Support.
    • Track and report status of issues and actions within Operations Support including those that are related to the Nuclear Maintenance Management Program (NMMP) or resulting from assessments and surveillances.
  • Oversight and execution of management assessments and surveillances.
    • Create Operations Support assessment plan based upon requirements or performance trends. Coordinate throughout Operations Support to ensure required assessments and surveillances are scheduled and executed.
    • Approve management assessment plans to ensure the scope adequately addresses the required area of interest.
    • Train and mentor assessment and surveillance leads to ensure effective results. Ensure leads are qualified to perform assessments and surveillances tracked in the Operations Support assessment plan.
    • Escalate to Operations Support management when assessment surveillance issue and action due dates are not on track to complete as scheduled.
    • Perform management assessments and surveillances when required.
    • Lead Operations Support efforts to improve Disciplined Operations throughout the organization. Track and report related items such as Floor Time and Observation to ensure personnel are compliant with site requirements.
  • Coordinate with Operations Support Leadership to ensure they are informed on status of compliance issues within the organization including use of data trending to recommend assessments strategies and/or actions to address negative performance.
  • Develop and coordinate correspondence for items when required. Ensure all reviews and approvals are complete with senior management in accordance with guidance.
  • Ability to work independently to execute job tasks.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelors degree: Minimum 7 years of relevant experience.
  • OR Masters degree: Minimum 6 years of relevant experience.
  • OR PhD: Minimum 3 years relevant experience.
  • Fifteen (15) or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of-experience requirements for this posting.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

This position may require entry into the Material Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (10 C.F.R. Part 712) which requires successful competition of a DOE counterintelligence evaluation and may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination.
