The Opportunity:
Solvest is seeking a permanent Red Seal Electrical Journeyperson to join the Operations Department! Solvest electricians work on commercial and utility scale solar battery and microgrid projects throughout the Yukon Northwest Territories (NWT) and Nunavut. Electricians work directly with Solvest construction teams to install electrical systems of various sizes across Northern Canada.
The typical schedule includes seasonal full-time shift work comprising 40 hours per week with frequent overtime. The role consists of out-of-town shift work typically with rotations of 2 weeks allowing you to explore beautiful Northern wilderness.

Employment Status: Permanent Full Time 40 hours per week frequent overtime during peak times
Starting Wage: $40 - $52 per hour (based on experience) overtime and per diems annual profit-sharing bonus based on company performance
Leave Entitlement: Three weeks of paid vacation to start (15 days) 5 paid sick days per year

Job Description:
Conduct all electrical work both conventional and renewable energy specific in compliance with the current Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) and applicable OHS regulations.
Work with the Solvest Operations Team to install renewable energy systems at commercial and utility scales including microgrid battery and wind projects throughout Northern Canada.
Mentor and train electrical apprentices and installation teams.
Review electrical drawings and schematics.
Troubleshoot malfunctioning grid tied and off grid renewable energy systems.
Commission residential and commercial solar systems including online monitoring system performance safety client understanding and awareness and QA/QC.
Complete all work in a timely manner and notify the Electrical Superintendent of any delays that will take additional time to address.
Ensure the worksite is clean organized and safe at all times.
Be respectful and polite to clients other contractors and members of the community.
Required Skills/Qualifications:
Must be a certified Red Seal electrician to be considered for the position
Experience in commercial electrical is required
Experience working on energized equipment is required
Exceptional people and social skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and pivot working priorities to meet multiple demands with little supervision
Ability to provide high levels of service consistently
Experience in successfully negotiating solutions to complex problems
Professional and respectful demeanor towards colleagues clients and the public
Previous solar experience would be considered an asset
Additional Requirements:
Must be willing to work at heights Fall Arrest Training will be provided
Must be willing to travel and work in communities within and outside of Yukon
Must wear all required PPE
Valid drivers license with at least 3 years of driving experience
