JOB SUMMARY:
Conducts forensic structural engineering assessments of existing buildings and infrastructure to evaluate their current condition. Assess structural systems and components in accordance with ASTM E2018-15 guidelines and assign condition ratings based on observed performance and integrity. Perform detailed engineering reviews using the latest edition of the Florida Building Code and applicable design standards to ensure compliance and safety. Provide recommendations for structural modifications repairs or rehabilitations aimed at extending asset life enhancing reliability and durability and optimizing operational performance. Mentor facilities management team members to build their understanding of structural systems and promote best practices in asset preservation. All engineering work must adhere to established industry standards principles and methodologies to ensure accuracy safety and quality.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform structural evaluations and engineering analyses to support the modification rehabilitation and repair of buildings and infrastructure across Universal Orlando Resort (UOR). Deliver immediate on-site assessments to identify document and address structural conditions ensuring timely corrective actions that enhance operational performance.
- Offer high-level design and engineering support for construction and maintenance activities across all UOR facilities including ride buildings parking structures and infrastructure systems.
- Plan and execute independent engineering tasks requiring sound judgment in the selection of materials vendors and the application of engineering techniques procedures and criteria.
- Devise creative approaches to complex engineering challenges. Prepare and revise technical documentation including drawings specifications calculations charts and graphs. Ensure all work complies with applicable codes and industry standards.
- Supervise the monitoring of existing buildings and infrastructure. Manage teams responsible for overseeing new construction projects within the resort ensuring alignment with engineering best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Understands and actively participates in Environmental Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy procedures training and team member involvement activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelors degree (ABET Accredited) in Civil Mechanical or Industrial Engineering with a focus on Utility Facility or Asset Management specialty or related field Required.
- Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Florida is required.
EXPERIENCE:
- 5 years of extensive background in structural and civil engineering with hands-on experience in materials and systems such as masonry structural steel reinforced and post-tensioned concrete timber and light-gauge metal framing required.
- 5 years of demonstrated experience in an engineering environment with a primary focus on the re-engineering of dynamically complex structures commonly found in theme park or amusement park construction preferred.
