Overview
The Department of Vermont Health Access (DVHA)s Health Access Eligibility & Enrollment Unit (HAEEU) is seeking a qualified individual to join their dynamic team. Work in a supportive work environment with a Monday-Friday schedule eleven paid state holidays in addition to a robust benefits package.
JOB DUTIES:
The Vermont Healthcare Support Specialist II (VHSSII) determines applicant eligibility for Vermonts health care programs including Medicaid Dr. Dynasaur Healthy Vermonters VPHARM and Vermont Health Connect. The VHSSII reviews and enters applications for Vermonts health care programs to determine eligibility and complete enrollment and plan selection and processes changes with extreme attention to detail to ensure accurate processing. The VHSII regularly processes work in each of the health care programs/subprograms. The majority of VHSSII work is processed on the phone with customer calls.
The Healthcare Services Specialist II role has the following responsibilities:
- Researching and resolving discrepancies in healthcare profiles.
- Reviews and enters applications and life changes with accurate eligibility.
- Can work multiple work buckets.
- Subsidy Coverage Dates and Eligibility Discrepancies.
- Reconciliation of the different systems to ensure all data aligns with the health exchange and our carrier partners.
- Handles a high call volume of customers needs.
- Provides excellent customer service

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed in an office setting. Workload is consistently heavy with constant need for prompt and accurate decision making. Incumbents must be able to function independently prioritize their own work and multi-task effectively. Private means of transportation should be available for necessary travel to training and/or meetings. Applicants may provide a variety of challenges including but not limited to highly emotional conditions (i.e. irate customers inability to communicate attempts at falsification and total discouragement). Work outside of typical business hours may be expected.
Minimum Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment and using computer programs.
OR
Six (6) months experience as a Vermont Healthcare Service Specialist I (VHSS I).
Preferred Qualifications
One (1) year of experience in a customer service environment or call center environment using computer programs including data entry and the ability to explain policies/procedures or rules/regulations
Experience with research and review of healthcare services or similar field
