About the role

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary full-time Technical Specialist to join our dynamic Supply Chain Operations West teamin ReginaSK.

In this role you will be furthering the Mission Vision Values and objectives of Canadian Blood Services providing technical expertise to Regina Supply Chain and to hospital customers in the management and use of blood and blood products. The Technical Specialist is responsible for developing key relationships with external hospital representatives and members of the Healthcare Community .

Formula for success

  • Leveraging your technical expertise to enhance Canadian Blood Services ability to meet customer needs by maximizing the effective use of inventory.
  • Utilizing specialized technical knowledge to direct Distribution staff in the proper use and maintenance of specialized inventory.
  • Drawing on in-depth technical expertise to provide consultative support to Production and Distribution teams as well as to the organization as a whole.
  • Applying technical knowledge to perform thorough and accurate document reviews.
  • Carrying out all duties in accordance with Canadian Blood Services Corporate Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.

Desired education and skills

  • Graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory Technology training program with attained certification or eligibility for certification by the College of Medical Laboratory Professionals of Saskatchewan (CMLPSK).
  • Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution preferably with a specialty in Transfusion Medicine or Immunohematology.
  • Five years of relevant laboratory experience in transfusion medicine is required. Well versed in current Transfusion Medicine practices and trends. Specific knowledge of blood and blood product utilization is required.
  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills demonstrated through communication and coaching.
  • Initiative and ability to work independently and as a member of a team member in a multi-disciplinary and rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong organizational analytical and effective problem-solving skills are essential.
  • A proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers at all levels.
  • Experience working in a regulated GMP environment is an advantage .
