ORACLE DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR

JOB PURPOSE:

The Oracle DBA is responsible for the installation configuration maintenance and performance of Oracle database systems. This role ensures the availability integrity and security of data assets while optimizing database operations to support businesscritical applications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install configure and upgrade Oracle databases (including Oracle RAC Data Guard and ASM).
• Monitor database performance and proactively optimize queries indexes and system resources.
• Perform backup and recovery operations using RMAN and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
• Manage database storage tablespaces partitions and schema structures.
• Implement and maintain database security (users roles privileges encryption auditing).
• Automate routine tasks using scripts (PL/SQL Shell or Python).
• Apply patches and upgrades and manage database lifecycle across development testing and production environments.
• Conduct capacity planning and work with infrastructure teams on database provisioning.
• Maintain documentation of configurations standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Support developers with SQL tuning stored procedures and troubleshooting.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
• 8 years of handson experience as an Oracle DBA in enterprise environments.
• Indepth knowledge of Oracle Database versions 12c 19c (or later) including RAC and Data Guard.
• Proficiency in SQL PL/SQL and Unix/Linux shell scripting.
• Experience with RMAN Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and database monitoring tools.
• Strong understanding of performance tuning database security and backup/recovery strategies.
• Familiarity with Oracle ASM partitioning and Oracle Exadata (optional).
• Excellent troubleshooting analytical and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM).
• Experience with cloudbased Oracle deployments (Oracle Cloud AWS RDS or Azure).
• Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD pipelines in relation to database deployments.
• Knowledge of other database platforms (e.g. MySQL PostgreSQL SQL Server) is a plus.
