Role Summary
The VMware Engineer will design implement maintain and optimize enterprise virtualization platforms supporting datacenter cloud and hybrid operations. This role is responsible for delivering secure resilient high performance virtualized environments while partnering with infrastructure security and application teams to ensure continuous availability and operational excellence.
Mandatory Skills:
7 years Strong hands-on VMware vSphere and ESXi administration experience.
vCenter operations expertise including HA ELM PSC templates and snapshots.
Knowledge of virtualization networking concepts (dvSwitch VLAN VXLAN NSX-T preferred) and VMWare cloud foundation/integration
Experience managing SAN/NAS storage integrations (VMFS iSCSI NFS).
Familiarity with DR replication and backup platforms
PowerShell/PowerCLI scripting and automation proficiency.
Working knowledge of Windows and Linux administration.
Experience with ITIL or other structured ITSM processes.
Ability to perform RCA document findings and implement corrective actions.
Key Responsibilities
Administer VMware vSphere ESXi hosts and vCenter environments.
Configure and support HA DRS vMotion resource pools and clusters.
Manage VM lifecycle provisioning snapshots templates and configurations.
Perform host patching upgrades and hardening per compliance standards.
Support integration with SAN/NAS storage technologies (FC/iSCSI/NFS).
Administer backup/DR solutions such as SRM Veeam Zerto Cohesity or Rubrik.
Troubleshoot VM performance issues across CPU memory storage and network layers.
Automate provisioning and operations using Ansible and/or PowerCLI PowerShell and APIs.
Monitor environments using vROps or equivalent tools for capacity and performance.
Support incident problem change and request management activities (L2/L3 escalation).
Create and update system documentation SOPs runbooks and diagrams.
Collaborate with network storage cloud and security teams on solution delivery.
Participate in on-call rotation and major incident response activities.
