About the RoleLocated in the heart of the Texas Medical Center the client offers an exciting opportunity to join its Heart & Vascular Institute (HVI) Operating Room team.
This position is responsible for providing skilled perioperative patient care through the proper use of surgical equipment and instrumentation. The Certified Surgical Technologist functions as a scrub assistant to the surgeon ensuring safe efficient and sterile operative procedures under the direction of a Registered Nurse.

Minimum QualificationsEducation:
Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist Program
Licenses/Certifications:
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) National Board of Surgical Technology & Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association
Experience:
2 years of CV (open heart) experience preferred
New Graduate: < 1 year
Surg Tech I: 1 year
Surg Tech II: 2 4 years
Surg Tech III: 5 years
Perform as first scrub in assigned surgical specialty areas.
Prepare and verify availability of supplies instruments and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
Apply principles of aseptic technique and maintain a sterile field.
Support case readiness and room turnover to maintain OR efficiency.
Provide safe high-quality care to patients while ensuring compliance with all Memorial Hermann policies and standards.
Serve as a preceptor mentor and resource to less experienced staff.
Participate in ongoing professional growth mandatory education and skill competency programs.
Demonstrate Memorial Hermanns service standards by providing safe caring personalized and efficient experiences for patients and colleagues.
