Job Summary
We are recruiting a reliable and experienced Cook to work in a residential home supporting older people living with dementia. This role requires someone who can prepare nutritious well-balanced meals and cater for a range of specialist dietary needs.
Key Responsibilities
As the Cook you will:
- Prepare daily meals for residents including specialist and modified diets.
- Ensure food is cooked to a high standard following nutritional guidelines for older adults.
- Maintain excellent kitchen hygiene and food safety practices always.
- Work safely and professionally within a residential care home environment.
- Communicate effectively with staff and residents to understand meal requirements.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
To be considered you must have:
- A recognised Catering qualification.
- Food Safety Level 2 (minimum).
- Experience cooking for older people or in a care/residential home setting.
- Understanding of special diets (e.g. soft diets diabetic meals allergen awareness).
- A clean Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one).
- Relevant training for working in a care or hospitality environment.
- Reliability professionalism and a caring attitude.
