Job Description
The Sahoo Lab at the Fralin Biomedical Research Institute studies the genetic and functional mechanisms that drive bone marrow failure clonal hematopoiesis and progression to MDS and AML. We integrate genomic and functional approaches on patient derived samples iPSC and mouse disease models to uncover mechanisms and therapeutic vulnerabilities.
Current project areas include:
1. Germline predisposition to MDS and AML: mechanisms by which SAMD9L mutations cause hematopoietic failure and predispose to leukemogenesis
2. Chromosome 7 aneuploidy syndromes: modeling monosomy 7 associated bone marrow failure and its role in clonal selection
3. Clonal evolution and therapeutic vulnerabilities: using single cell sequencing to track clonal dynamics and to identify targets in high risk MDS and AML
