Job Summary
As Legal Counsel you will provide practical commercially balanced legal advice across Abanos Australian and New Zealand operations. This is a broad hands-on role where youll work closely with senior leaders and functional teams to manage risk enable growth and support day-to-day operations.
Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel you will build trusted relationships with the Executive Leadership Team Regional Operations Managers and corporate support functions.
Key areas of responsibility include:
Advising on operational matters across the ANZ business
Drafting reviewing and negotiating clinician and commercial contracts (including government contracts)
Supporting M&A activity joint ventures and other commercial transactions
Managing disputes complaints and regulatory matters
Advising on privacy compliance and legal risk management
Reviewing marketing materials and advising on competition and consumer law issues
Qualifications :
You are a confident pragmatic lawyer who enjoys working in a fast-paced commercially driven environment and partnering with the business to find solutions.
Youll bring:
58 years post-qualification experience gained in a top or mid-tier firm or a strong in-house legal team
Proven experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
Exposure to healthcare services or regulated environments (highly regarded)
A sound understanding of Australian and/or New Zealand privacy law principles
Experience with disputes complaints handling and regulatory matters
Exposure to M&A or joint ventures (preferred)
Strong communication skills and sound commercial judgement
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent
Admission to practice in Australia or another relevant jurisdiction
(Admission in New Zealand will be supported where required)
