Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director Talent Acquisition the Talent Acquisition Advisor provides expert advice and guidance on talent acquisition policies practices and procedures to the university community. The person is responsible for managing end-to-end recruitment processes for management professional and administrative positions including both unionized and non-unionized roles.

The Talent Acquisition Advisor partners closely with hiring managers throughout the full recruitment lifecycle including sourcing screening interviews selection and offer negotiations while ensuring compliance with institutional policies collective agreements and applicable legislation.

In addition the person leads and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing recruitment processes tools and candidate experience. The person also participates in the planning and delivery of special projects and events coordinated by Human Resources supporting broader organizational and strategic objectives.

The Talent Acquisition Advisor proactively identifies develops and implements innovative cost-effective and sustainable talent acquisition solutions to attract engage and retain top talent in a complex and evolving environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment processes for management professional and administrative positions including both unionized and non-unionized roles in accordance with institutional policies collective agreements and applicable legislation.
  • Provide expert advisory support to hiring managers on talent acquisition strategies workforce planning job design and recruitment best practices.
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to attract diverse and highly qualified candidates including proactive outreach networking and employer branding initiatives.
  • Screen applications conduct phone and in-person interviews and coordinate selection processes to ensure fair equitable and efficient hiring decisions.
  • Prepare and extend employment offers lead offer negotiations where applicable and ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies collective agreements employment equity requirements and relevant employment legislation at all stages of recruitment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on talent acquisition-related policies procedures and tools providing guidance and training to hiring managers and internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize recruitment processes systems and workflows including the identification and implementation of innovative and cost-effective solutions.
  • Contribute to special Human Resources projects and events such as career fairs recruitment campaigns onboarding initiatives and institutional HR programs.
  • Collaborate with HR colleagues and cross-functional partners to support broader talent management and organizational objectives.
  • Analyze recruitment metrics and trends prepare reports and provide recommendations to support data-informed decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential recruitment records and documentation in accordance with institutional standards and audit requirements.


Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities

  • Undergraduate degree in Human Resources Industrial Relations or related field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in the recruitment of all levels of positions.
  • Member of the ORHRI is an asset.
  • Fluently bilingual English and French written and spoken with superior verbal and written communication.
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the laws and regulations governing recruitment. Excellent knowledge of recent and best practices including the use of social media/networks behavioral interviewing techniques etc.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to guide influence and align stakeholders.
  • Client focus and proven relationship builder capable of earning trust and respect of clients.
  • Competent problem solver with initiative to find solutions or alternatives to complex problems.
  • Proven experience in streamlining and improving processes and procedures. Experience in implementing policy procedures and/or best practices.
  • Knowledge of Workday is an asset.
