Relationship & Scope:
The AVP of North America Expense Management will report to the VP North America Expense Management and will be responsible for monthly/quarterly expense analysis and reporting evaluating and managing expense accruals and managing the annual expense budget process and strategic plan process for expenses. Responsibilities will also include coordination with various divisions within Chubb. This candidate will interact with a diverse group of internal personnel including other financial professionals technology experts and functional staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee North America Expense Management process including direct management of four full-time staff.
Manage and coordinate month-to-date and quarter-to-date analysis of expenses vs. plan and prior year on a pre-allocated and post-allocated basis.
Review of various monthly/quarterly journal entries related to Incentive Compensation Pension and various other expense related processes. Additionally will be responsible for review of entry coding and support related to Ad Hoc request.
Review of quarterly SOX Controls including Monthly expense commentary quarterly reconciliation and walkthroughs related to the overall expense management process.
Coordinate annual expense budget process including ownership of Expense Planning TM1 instance. Work directly with DFOs to provide guidance and manage deliverable timing expectations.
Coordinate expense component of annual strategic plan process.
Act as the main contact for the North America expenses Vision (Qlik) application. This includes maintenance of reporting trees access rights as well as assisting internal users with inquiries.
Evaluate existing processes and develop implementation plans to improve efficiency and effectiveness while adding value to the organization.
Influence change across key constituents; remove obstacles to achieve objectives.
Bachelors degree in Business major in Accounting or Finance
10 years in progressively responsible leadership roles with familiarity in operational financial quality assurance and human resource procedures and regulations
Comprehensive experience in finance and a strong working knowledge of financial systems is preferred
Insurance experience preferably experience working with a commercial P&C Life or A&H carrier
Public Accounting experience and CPA designation preferred
Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses
High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
Project Management experience a plus
Mastery of end user applications (e.g. Microsoft products such as Excel Powerpoint Word and Access) and proficiency in TM1 and Qlik (Vision).
