A supportive and inclusive primary school in Haringey is seeking a resilient and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This role is ideal for candidates who are confident supporting behaviour emotional regulation and engagement within a mainstream primary environment.
You will be working primarily with pupils in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who require additional support to manage behaviour develop positive relationships and access learning. Support will be delivered through 1:1 intervention small group work and in-class support.
This school places a strong emphasis on wellbeing inclusion and restorative practice. The leadership team is experienced and supportive and the SENCo works closely with teaching and support staff to ensure consistent strategies are in place.

Provide consistent support to pupils with SEMH needs
Support emotional regulation using positive behaviour strategies
Build trusting professional relationships with pupils
Assist pupils with accessing learning and classroom routines
Implement behaviour plans and EHCP strategies
Support pupils during transitions and unstructured times
Record observations and contribute to SEN reviews
Work collaboratively with teachers SENCo and external professionals
Experience supporting pupils with SEMH or challenging behaviour
Calm resilient and emotionally intelligent approach
Strong communication and de-escalation skills
Ability to follow structured behaviour plans
Commitment to inclusive practice and safeguarding
Candidates with backgrounds in SEN education youth work psychology or behaviour support are strongly encouraged to apply.
