Job Summary

Hiring Range: $25.50-$29.96. The maximum pay for this position is $34.42.

Early Head Start is part of the Eagle County Department of Human Services (ECDHS). ECDHS comprises the following divisions: Children Family & Adult Services Economic Services and Integrated Support Services each working together to provide exceptional service to our customers. ECDHS is committed to ensuring all ECDHS clients experience a no wrong door approach to service delivery.

Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm. This position will be expected to travel to our various locations throughout the Eagle River Valley.

Job Summary:

The Early Head Start Home Visitor / Family Advocate works with pregnant women and families with children up to three years of age to enhance the healthy development of children and families. Home Visitors organize plan and facilitate weekly home visits with families that integrate all Head Start components (areas of health early childhood education and development nutrition family life skills safety and mental health). Referring and linking families with other community programs is also an essential component of this position.

This position is located in El Jebel and maintains positive working relationships with the EHS contracted child care center(s) serving children in that geographical area supporting their families by ensuring all EHS center-based program requirements are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Home Visits: Conduct regular home visits to provide support and guidance to families with young children.
  • Child Development: Implement the Parents As Teachers curriculum and assess child development.
  • Family Partnerships: Build strong relationships with families develop goals and connect them with community resources.
  • Program Management: Maintain records ensure program compliance and participate in professional development.

Qualifications:

Education Experience Licensure Certification or Registration:

  • Minimum two years of experience in working with families children educational systems child development systems or low-income families or any combination of education and experience that produces the required knowledge skills and abilities and experience
  • A minimum of a CDA credential or relevant coursework as part of an associates or bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education Social Work Human Development or a related field or be willing to obtain one within 18 months of hire.
  • Bilingual skills in English and Spanish both written and oral are required.
  • Previous work experience with Early Head Start or Head Start. Previous work experience in an early childhood setting is preferred.
  • Must possess a valid drivers license a satisfactory motor vehicle record and the ability to pass a background investigation. Reliable transportation is required.
  • Ability to pass criminal and child abuse background checks is required.
