Job Summary:

The HVAC Apprentice assists the HVAC Journeyman to perform Corrective and Preventive Maintenance of UMCS Heating Ventilation and Air conditioning (HVAC) systems and associated equipment at Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific (NIWC-PAC).

Roles and Responsibilities:

Performance of preventive maintenance inspections diagnostics and corrective maintenance on heating hot water boilers chillers piping pumps air separators/expansion tanks air handlers fan coils exhaust fans cooling towers air compressors dampers coils (HW CW DX) motors control valves pressure reducing valves relief valves and all other support systems as needed.
Replace piping systems; cut bend fabricate using steel copper PVC and associated fittings specific to the type of pipe being used to connect new equipment installations and replacements.
Capable of performing physical labor to include carrying and moving equipment and tools up to 50-70 lbs.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Must be able to pass customer background check.

Basic Qualifications:

High school degree or lieu of diploma or equivalent trade school certifications can be used for credit towards years of experience.
Must be willing to enroll in the UA Local Union 230 Apprenticeship Program that includes HVAC Maintenance and Services training.
Must be either a member in good standing of UA Local Union 230 or willing to become a member.
Must possess a valid drivers license and driving record that meets company requirements.

Work Location: Onsite. No relocation funds available must be within 50 miles of Point Loma San Diego or willing to waive travel requirements.

Basic Compensation: $46000. The salary range posted is for California locations. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge skills abilities and/or experience contract affordability and in consideration of internal parity.
