Position overview
The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) supports the Occupational Therapist in delivering rehabilitative services to residents in a Skilled Nursing Facility with a focus on maximizing functional independence and quality of life. This mid-level role is ideal for an experienced COTA who is comfortable working with geriatric populations assisting with ADLs and collaborating within an interdisciplinary care team.
Key responsibilities

Implement occupational therapy treatment plans under the supervision and direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR) following established goals and interventions.

Provide therapeutic interventions for SNF residents to improve or maintain function in activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing dressing grooming toileting and feeding.

Document patient progress response to treatment and functional outcomes accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.

Assist residents with use of adaptive equipment and compensatory strategies to enhance safety independence and participation in daily routines.

Communicate effectively with OTs nursing therapy staff and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care report changes in status and support discharge planning.

Ensure adherence to facility policies professional standards and applicable state and federal regulations for skilled nursing rehabilitation services.
Required qualifications & skills

Active current Texas COTA license (Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant) meeting state licensure requirements.

Minimum 1 year of COTA experience preferred with prior work in a Skilled Nursing Facility strongly desired.

Strong written and verbal communication skills with proficiency in clinical documentation and EMR systems as used by the facility.

Ability to work both independently within established care plans and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
