Job Summary
Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze ED medical records to assign accurateICD-10-CMCPT andHCPCScodes for E/M services procedures and diagnoses.
- ApplyMedical Decision Making (MDM) tableguidelines to determine the correct E/M level for ED visits.
- Ensure coding compliance withfederal state and payer-specific regulations.
- Collaborate with ED physicians / clinical staff / internal team to resolve coding discrepancies and documentation gaps.
- Educate providers ondocumentation requirements for MDM components(number of diagnoses data review risk assessment).
- ConductED-specific coding auditsand provide actionable feedback to improve accuracy and compliance.
- Stay updated onCMS guidelinesAMA CPT updates and payer-specific ED coding policies.
Qualifications:
- Certification in medical coding (CPCCOCCCS or equivalent).
- Minimum3 years of experienceinEmergency Department coding.
- Strong understanding ofMDM table applicationfor E/M coding.
- Thorough knowledge ofICD-10CPT andHCPCScoding systems.
- Strong knowledge ofmedical terminologyanatomy and ED workflows.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
