Job Summary

Your role at St John of God Geraldton Hospital

You will assist in the effective supply of all instruments and items required for Theatre and other associated clinical activities. The role includes assisting with theatre setup for surgical lists supporting patient positioning cleaning theatres between cases and preparing setups for the following days sessions.

St John of God Hospital Geraldton houses two operating theatres one procedure room and a range of onsite diagnostic services including medical imaging and pathology. The hospital also operates a Specialist Medical Centre that provides facilities for permanent and visiting medical practitioners encompassing a range of medical specialties. You will be a valued member of our supportive and approachable multidisciplinary team.

This Casual position offers flexibility with work hours and days Monday to Friday for those with willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

The Position

  • Facilitate and assist in the set-up of sterile instrument working trolleys for each surgical procedure.

  • Maintain integrity of sterile stock environment in relation to storage ventilation and cleanliness.

  • Maintain the set-up room environment by re-stocking organising trolleys and general housekeeping.

  • Maintain theatre instruments and equipment as required.

  • Ensure correct location of re-processed sterile supplies and trays.

  • Responsible for collection of sterile supplies and instruments for individual cases.

  • Ensure adequate rotation of sterile stock according to empty dates.

  • Act as resource for nursing staff to locate correct supplies.

  • Assist with theatre set up and patient positioning.

  • Assist with theatre cleaning between cases.

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled team member with proven experience in sterilisation technology and instrument processing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong working knowledge of sterilisation procedures and will confidently apply Infection Control and Occupational Safety and Health standards in their daily practice.

Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills are essential along with the ability to build positive relationships and work effectively with colleagues across a range of disciplines. You will bring well-developed interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to team-based environments.

A commitment to continuous quality improvement is key to this role as is the ability to contribute to safe efficient and high-quality service delivery. If you thrive in a multi-disciplinary team and are passionate about maintaining exceptional standards wed love to hear from you. Previous experience is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.

  • Salary: $40.35 to $41.04 per hour (inclusive of casual loading) plus 12% superannuation

  • Casual position working Monday to Friday.
