As a Compliance Specialist you play a key role in ensuring that Rituals products are legally compliant safe and ready for launch in all markets where we operate. You will be part of the Quality team within the Sourcing Quality & Regulatory (SQR) department: the team responsible for verifying product performance validating specifications and securing compliance across our assortment.
In this role you work closely with suppliers and internal teams to manage compliance documentation interpret legislation and support the continuous improvement of our processes. You act as our internal expert on product compliance providing clear guidance removing ambiguity and enabling teams to make confident compliant decisions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining detailed regulatory work with cross-functional collaboration and who gains energy from ensuring that every Rituals product meets our uncompromising standards of safety and quality.
Key Result Areas
Professional Development & Advisory
- Stay up to date on relevant product legislation in close collaboration with our Regulatory Affairs team and translate developments into clear advice for the business.
- Guide Sourcing Supply Planning and Innovation teams on compliance processes and requirements.
- Act as the Compliance representative in rework operations projects ensuring changes continue to meet evolving legislation.
- Serve as a business ambassador for product safety and legal compliance supporting teams with clarity and expertise.
- Act as the main point of contact for local market surveillance authorities for your assigned categories.
Documentation & Quality Assurance
- Review and approve artworks to ensure all legal and safety information is accurate and complete prior to market release.
- Request assess and maintain Product Information Files (PIFs) and other documentation demonstrating compliance with EU and international legislation.
- Provide Innovation teams with compliant artwork briefings for all markets.
- Review and sign off packaging documentation to ensure alignment with PPWD and PPWR requirements.
Qualifications :
The requirements for this role are:
- Degree in chemistry law or equivalent experience and training.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Compliance or Regulatory Affairs preferably within cosmetics or FMCG.
- Strong understanding of EU and international legislation (EU Cosmetics Regulation CLP REACH).
- Experience in packaging compliance (PPWD/PPWR) is a strong advantage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Able to manage multiple projects and deadlines with structure and calm.
- Excellent planning and project management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to simplify complex requirements.
- A collaborative team player with clear communication and a supportive mindset.
Location and working conditions:
This role is based out our Central Head Office (Herengracht) in Amsterdam. While flexible working is possible we value strong on-site collaboration to align quickly and work effectively across teams. Because we believe in the power of connection with ourselves each other and the world around us we work 80 percent from the office and 20 percent from home.
