Financial Risk Specialist (WB Capital & Models)

The team
Risk models are of paramount importance to ING Wholesale Banking (WB) given that they cover 50% of INGs capital consumption and provisions. The WB Capital & Models department is co-owner of INGs WB risk models and is pivotal in the delivery of the redeveloped WB (credit) risk models. The department is an integral part of ING WB in centrally optimizing and managing the WB balance sheet / capital by collaborating with all business lines sector organizations and risk departments across the Bank.

The department is composed of three Capital teams three Model Expert teams and a Regulatory Transformation team. The Regulatory Transformation team oversees regulatory developments and assesses and mitigates their RWA impact. Key responsibilities across the department include managing Capital- and Modelrelated ECB onsite inspections serving as the delegated model owner for the WB Lending Pricing tool (PricING) driving RWA optimization and scenario analysis representing WB in various Risk Committees and providing regulatory expertise to the Front Office.

For this team we are looking for a Financial Risk Specialist with tangible experience and expertise in modelling

Roles and responsibilities
We are seeking a Financial Risk Expert who will serve as crossportfolio regulatory transformation this role you will work with the team on crossmodel deliverables and ensure regulatory compliance across Counterparty Credit Risk Market Risk and Credit Risk models. Further you will focus on implementing regulatory requirements and embedding risk policies in the day-to-day Wholesale Bank activities and front office processes. You will play a key role in understanding forecasting and optimizing the impact of regulatory policies and models on capital and consequently on WB profitability metrics.

In your role of Financial Risk Specialist you will:

  • Analyse and interpret the impact of new RWArelated regulatory changes and risk model developments and provide clear actionable insights to model users and business stakeholders.
  • Engage daily with FrontOffice Finance and Risk colleagues to discuss (potential) model behaviour RWA impacts and portfoliolevel implications supporting informed decisionmaking.
  • Identify limitations or inconsistencies in the use and application of risk models across portfolios and ensure these are escalated and addressed.
  • Advise model users on relevant policies and regulatory requirements and support the embedding of these standards into commercial processes and daytoday business activities.
  • Provide expert advise on areas where traditional credit and market risk topics overlap.
  • Deliver data driven insights in portfolio movements to steer front office and forecast RWA movements.
  • Support the delivery of strategic initiatives by gathering external and internal requirements (e.g. regulatory functional sustainability) and ensuring timely alignment with key stakeholders such as the WB Lending Tribe Financial Markets Tribe PricING squad and COOR.
  • Monitor structural weaknesses in the regulatory capital framework and RWA calculations and contribute to developing practical solutions and improvements.
  • Support and manage ECB onsite inspections and coordinate the remediation and mitigation of the resulting findings and recommendations.

We are looking for a profile with the following knowledge and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in the Risk and Front-Office Domain.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations (CRR CRD EBA RTS ECB Guide) ING policies INGs model methodology model key concepts (e.g. PD EAD LGD market risk).
  • Able to identify problems and to solve them in collaboration with experienced stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate complex content into simple messages to stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
  • Good stakeholder management skills and organizational sensitivity to act within complex stakeholder environments across business lines and across end-to-end value chain.
  • Make it happen mindset and track record.
  • Proven problem-solving skills.
