In this role students support cybersecurity and systems engineering activities for mission-critical systems within the Air & Naval Division helping ensure systems are designed tested and assessed according to technical and security requirements. Students gain practical experience working with acoustic sonar and other naval systems as well as exposure to secure system design and verification under the guidance of senior engineers.
This position provides hands-on experience in systems engineering cybersecurity assessment and verification activities helping students develop skills in technical analysis testing and documentation within an air and naval operational environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with reviewing and analysing system and cybersecurity requirements helping ensure clarity and technical accuracy.
- Support system and software testing activities including executing test cases verifying results and documenting observations under guidance.
- Contribute to threat analysis and vulnerability assessment efforts helping collect data and track mitigation activities.
- Assist with the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation including design artifacts test reports and security records.
- Support verification and validation of system and cybersecurity requirements helping confirm that designs meet specifications.
- Operate and maintain test simulators equipment or lab environments as needed to support evaluation efforts.
- Collaborate with engineers software developers and test teams to support secure system design and testing.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting best practices in cybersecurity and systems engineering.
Qualifications :
Required
- Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in Systems Engineering Electrical Engineering Computer Engineering Software Engineering Cybersecurity or a related technical/scientific field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Enthusiastic motivated and eager to learn in a structured engineering environment.
- Comfortable following established processes and technical documentation.
Assets
- Exposure to cybersecurity concepts such as secure system design threat modeling or vulnerability assessments.
- Experience with software or system testing verification and validation concepts.
- Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as Python C/C or Bash.
- Knowledge of Unix-like operating systems.
- Familiarity with requirements management or defect tracking tools (e.g. DOORS JIRA).
- Exposure to software configuration management tools such as Git.
- Project experience in naval acoustic or sonar systems is an asset.
It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission SystemsCanada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. Compensation
The expected hourly rate for this position is $23.08 $32.41. Final compensation will be determined based on an assessment of the candidates qualifications including relevant experience technical and non-technical skills and internal equity. As part of student placement you will be eligible for quarterly pay increases.
