Project Controls Summer Student

Bantrel has an exciting opportunity for Engineering Construction Management and Project Management students to support our Energy Mining and Infrastructure Teams this summer. Reporting to the Project Services Systems Manager you will support various Energy/Infrastructure related projects from the Calgary corporate office. The position will be starting in May 2026 for a 4-month term.

Duties & Responsibilities (may include and are not limited to):

• Assist senior project controls leads with their responsibilities including gathering and checking project controls related data.
• Work independently and as part of a team to complete project specific project controls deliverables including:
  • Staff Plans Reports (Power BI)
  • Progressing Reports
  • Cost Reports
  • Scheduling Reports
• Gain experience developing Power BI reports from various data sources.
• Become knowledgeable with the Extract Transform Load (ETL) process and working in a Data Lake Data warehouse environment.

• Understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform tools specifically Power BI.

Qualifications :

• Must be enrolled in an engineering project management or construction management program at an accredited university.
• You will have completed 3 years of your program by April 2026.
• Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
• Interest in project controls and complex projects.
• Previous work experience will be considered an asset.
• Technical experience with Power BI tools ability to use data-centric design tools and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint Word Excel PowerPoint etc.) will be preferred.
