Minimum Hiring Annual Salary:

$52612.00

Maximum Hiring Annual Salary:

$56821.00

To attain the maximum annual salary employee must meet all minimum qualifications plus:

  • 5 (five) years of additional applicable work experience and/or degrees higher than minimum qualification degree. Degrees higher than the minimum qualification degree can be used in combination with additional work experience.
  • Acombination of related education on-the-job work experience certifications and/or licenses that results in a candidate successfully meeting the minimum qualifications of the position may be considered.

The stated salary amounts are not guaranteed in the event employment ends with Aims during any fiscal year.

Job Description:

The Aims2UNC Student Success Coach serves the central function of providing appreciative advising and coaching to Aims2UNC students. This position provides academic and transition advising as well as resource referrals to help students make informed decisions about their short- and long-term educational trajectories. This position serves as a success coach for students as they complete their Associate degrees at Aims and transition to the University of Northern Colorado (UNC) to complete a baccalaureate degree via the Aims2UNC program and partnership. Although this position includes responsibilities regarding the advising components of the program it will have a heightened focus on developing a sense of community and belonging within the Aims2UNC cohort through timely and strategic programming. This will include planning communicating and executing events workshops and activities to supplement an individuals academic journey with meaningful co-curricular activities.

In the spirit of appreciative advising pedagogy the Student Success Coach I engages in student development activities to help students make proactive and effective decisions regarding their course and program choices. The Student Success Coach I will maintain an assigned caseload of advisees from the Aims2UNC program and will engage in regularly scheduled meetings proactive interventions/follow-ups and be available for additional questions as the students primary point of contact within the program.

Academic Advising Programming- Community and Engagement:

  • Plan and execute engagement activities and events centered on increasing a sense of community and belonging within the Aims2UNC cohort on both the Aims and UNCO campuses to align with the mission and goals of the Aims2UNC program.
  • Communicate relevant program information to program participants through internal means of communications including but not limited to the Aims2UNC Newsletter the Aims2UNC D2L course shell and text messaging.
  • Update and maintain the Aims2UNC Academic Advising Desk Manual to reflect the most up-to-date practices policies and procedures of the Aims2UNC program.
  • Maintain and update existing academic advising resources (i.e. co-curricular maps advising checklists registration worksheets and template emails) and create new materials when needed that continue to promote the collaborative nature of the Aims2UNC program which often includes co-advising with other departments both at Aims and UNCO.
  • Serve as a primary liaison between the advising units at Aims UNCO and the Statewide advisor network in an effort tokeep the Aims2UNC program up-to-date on advising discussions and continue to promote the collaborative nature and co-advising components of our program.
  • Case Management Aims2UNC students with career and academic issues identify educational options appropriate for each student and assist with the analysis of each option including possible outcomes and their implications through consistent outreach efforts.
  • Assist in the maintenance of an appreciative advising model that emphasizes the practical application of the Aims2UNC Curriculum maps and prioritizes co-curricular learning through the utilization of available resources at Aims and UNC.
  • Assist in planning and implementing College-wide and campus retention strategies. Connect students to events/activities on the Aims and UNC Campuses and promote programming that the Aims2UNC Program is facilitating.
  • Monitor graduating student progress help facilitate a seamless transition for all Aims2UNC participants and coordinate any reverse transfer considerations in an effort to promote degree completion here at Aims.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments staff and faculty in administering admissions advising and recruiting programs and projects; create and maintain records and files for advisors to use with students utilizing an integrated database system.
  • Serve on committees within the community as appropriate to promote the College
  • Assist with orientation of new students graduation ceremonies and special award/recognition events as needed.

Academic Advising/Student Support:

  • Appreciatively advise and coach students by:
    • explaining Aims and UNC academic policies and procedures
    • aligning a students degree at Aims with their desired course of study at UNC along with future career opportunities
    • providing unofficial evaluation of transfer credits for course equivalences and possible application to Aims and UNC degrees
    • monitoring academic progress of students toward degree completion
    • identifying current and potential needs or problem areas (e.g. study skills tutoring) and referring students to appropriate campus resources for assistance.
  • Provide and/or refer advising/career information regarding academic requirements university programs and services to prospective incoming and current students seeking to enroll at Aims and transition to UNC.
  • Engage with and meet with students via in-person and virtual appointments phone calls texting and email.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for advisees to other offices at Aims.
  • Manage an assigned caseload of students on career and academic issues identify education options appropriate for each student and assist with the analysis of each option including possible outcomes and their implications through consistent outreach efforts.
  • Check various forms for accuracy assist students in their completion sign related forms as an advisor remove holds when appropriate and document student interactions on appropriate platforms including Workday.
  • Educate and advise prospective students parents high school personnel and the community on academic programs on college admissions requirements financial aid policies residency requirements and College policies.
  • Assess the students stage of development and promote growth by assisting students in establishing realistic and attainable academic and career goals.
  • Determine the eligibility of a student for the Aims2UNC program along with other student programs on both campuses and how previously earned credits may influence a students participation within the Aims2UNC program and earning a two-year and four-year degree.
  • Input and retrieve information from both Aims and UNC technology platforms such as Workday Banner and Navigate
  • Utilize resources such as transfer guides to assist students in course selection and career goals.
  • Teach students how to problem solve by identifying alternative options as they relate to their life and career goals; explain financial aid processes and connect students to appropriate resources (e.g. FAFSA forms and scholarship options)
  • Engage in the initial career planning process by explaining the connection between majors interests/abilities and career goals; keep accurate log notes that reflect the discussion and essential information conveyed to students
  • Teach students how to register online and use web service features; refer students to appropriate resources on and off campus based upon their needs (e.g. orientation disability access etc.); respond to student inquiries within a timely manner.

Aims2UNC Back-Up Program Support:

  • Assist with updating and maintaining the Aims2UNC Academic Advising Desk Manual to reflect the most up-to-date practices policies and procedures of the Aims2UNC program.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating existing academic advising resources (i.e. Co-curricular maps advising checklists and template emails)
  • Assist in promoting the collaborative nature and co-advising components of the Aims2UNC program.
  • Assist with monitoring graduating student progress helping to facilitate a seamless transition for all Aims2UNC participants and coordinating any reverse transfer considerations.
  • Support program assessment as necessary
  • Support data management and collection as necessary.
  • Support alignment of program activities with the mission and vision of the Aims2UNC program with specific emphasis placed on the retention transfer and completion goals
  • Educate and advise prospective students parents high school personnel and the community on academic programs on college admissions requirements financial aid policies residency requirements and College policies
  • Develop plan and coordinate projects as assigned.
  • Serve on partner-related (internal and external) committees as necessary.
  • Attend Aims and UNC advising meetings to best serve Aims2UNC participants and provide updates to the rest of the Aims2UNC staff.

Crisis Response:

  • Serves as crisis response point person;
  • Meet with referred students and help them to regain emotional stability;
  • Assist the student in problem problem-solving process to make well-informed decisions regarding alternative choices;
  • Provide outside referral resources when needed to resources at both Aims Community College and the University of Northern Colorado.

Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Psychology Sociology Student Affairs or other related field; plus two (2) years related work experience in counseling academic advising student development or other related student-facing experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience.
  • Demonstrated Microsoft Office computer skills.
  • This position requires the use of a company vehicle for business travel. The selected candidate must successfully pass an MVR and be insurable under Aims insurance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree in Student Affairs/Higher Education Leadership or other related field.
  • Experience working with transfer students.
  • Experience providing students with tailored support in the form of academic advising academic coaching or mentoring.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative team-oriented environment.

Knowledge of:

  • College student services such as financial aid admissions and records student life and academic advising.
  • Colorado Statewide Articulation Agreements Aims2UNC Curriculum Maps and general transfer processes and considerations
  • Admissions policies and eligibility requirements; current trends in student recruitment and retention.
  • Applicable legislation standards policies and procedures within specialty area (financial aid counseling advising FERPA).
  • College programs of study services and resources.
