Job Summary
Chileda is looking for a full-time first-shift Maintenance Technician to join our team. The Maintenance Technician reporting to the Director of Buildings and Grounds performs general maintenance and janitorial duties including interior and exterior building repairs and cleaning as well as minor carpentry plumbing and electrical work. This role will also maintain grounds upkeep to help provide a clean and safe environment for students and staff.
What We Do at Chileda: Chiledas mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals with cognitive and behavioral challenges. Chiledas goal is to help students increase their appropriate social behaviors and develop independent living skills through an enriched learning environment and individualized behavior programming. Chiledas population includes children and young adults with special needs including Autism Traumatic Brain Injury Attachment Challenges related developmental delays and intensive behavioral needs.
Qualifications:
Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
Must be at least 18 years old
Previous maintenance experience is preferred
Must have working knowledge of different hand and power tools
Valid drivers license with the ability to maintain approval as a Chileda Approved Driver
Hours: The Maintenance Technician is a full-time position 6:30 am 3:00 Monday through Friday. Hours may be altered during special needs projects or during inclement weather.
Job Responsibilities:
Utilize good judgment in determining the maintenance needs of the campus and communicating needs to the supervisor.
Identify and communicate any safety concerns to the supervisor in a timely manner.
Identifying and repairing any damage to walls including painting as needed.
Identify repairs needed throughout campus and communicate with the supervisor about the process for repairing.
Perform minor carpentry electrical and plumbing maintenance as requested by supervisor.
Maintain clean windows throughout campus.
Maintain stock of all supplies required by the maintenance department.
Assist with the organization and cleanliness of shop.
Prepare bedrooms prior to students moving in to ensure they are clean and in good repair.
Moving items including stock furniture and other items within buildings around campus and from/to
the basement.
Operating snow removal and other grounds maintenance equipment.
Responsible for completing floor care including sweeping vacuuming mopping and shampooing carpets.
General cleaning of identified office space.
Assist with maintaining the general appearance of Chiledas campus including yard work or external
repairs as directed by the supervisor.
Communicate to the supervisor any proactive steps that can and should be implemented to impact student
and staff safety.
All other tasks as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds.
Physical Demands: The Maintenance Technician is a physically active fast-paced position requiring
the ability to manage several tasks and complete projects timely. Physical ability to operate floor machines
variety of hand and power tools mop and other tools and equipment. Requires lifting and transferring objects
over 50 pounds. Must be able to perform duties without direct risk of substantial harm to others or themselves.
Work Environment: Work will be performed in all areas of the Chileda campus. This position requires
the use of a company van to drive to local stores for supplies.
