Job Summary

Position Description

Working At Harris County Precinct 4:

Harris County Precinct 4 is seeking a Road Maintenance Intern. This position follows instructions and performs various manual tasks crucial to maintaining and repairing Precinct 4 roads bridges and easements.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Cleans ditches and culverts of brush trash and rubbish.
Trims overhanging branches and bushes.
Patches potholes with asphalt and repairs concrete sidewalks.
Picks up trash along roadways and rights-of-way.
Uses shovels rakes weed eaters and other equipment.

Requirements

Education & Experience

Must have completed at least one (1) year of high school education.
Must have a valid ID.
Needs reliable transportation to and from work.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand walk and use hands and fingers
The intern frequently is required to reach with hands and arms and stoop kneel crouch or crawl.
The employee is occasionally required to sit climb or balance.
They must also talk or hear.
This position must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
While performing the duties of this job the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee frequently works in outside weather conditions and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works in high precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles toxic or caustic chemicals risk of electrical shock and vibration.
The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.
