Description

Function:

Reporting to the Director of the LGBTQIA Aging Project the Director of the Massachusetts Commission on Aging is an administrative professional and management position responsible for planning developing implementing directing and advocating for the Commission.


Representative Duties:

Oversee Management of the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Aging

  • Advocate for LGBTQ older adults in Massachusetts
  • Implement Commissions 2025-2030 Strategic Plan
  • Identify plan and develop short term and long -term goals and objectives for annual workplan; monitors and reports on goal achievement
  • Develop administer and oversee written policies and procedures for the Commission
  • Plan organize and direct the preparation of reports to legislature Commission and public
  • Convene Commission meetings set agenda minutes etc.
  • Convene Commission working groups
  • Collaborate with Commission co-chairs and their legislative staff
  • Collaborate with Commission members
  • Recruit new Commission members
  • Collaborate with other related/relevant Commissions LGBTQ community groups and aging services
  • Update Commissions website and social media platforms
  • Provide written and verbal testimony to legislature on issues of relevance to Commissions priorities
  • Promote public recognition of Commission through media public appearances participation in conferences

  • Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
  • Adhere to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
  • Adhere to established safety policies procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
  • Attend all required meetings in-services and professional trainings
  • Maintain professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
  • Serve on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

Requirements


  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Experience working with an ethnically culturally and racially diverse work staff preferred
  • Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals require
  • Must be able and willing to travel throughout the state of Massachusetts.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Familiarity with LGBTQIA issues
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts LGBTQIA communities
  • Familiarity with older adults issues and needs
  • Familiarity with the Massachusetts aging service network
