What You Will Be Doing:

Are you ready to lead transformational changes in Alaskas health care system The Department of Health is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as Accountant 4for the new and innovativeRural Health Transformation Program.

In this pivotal role you will:

  • Provide high-level specialized accounting financial management and fund accounting services in support of the Rural Health Transformation Fund
  • Oversee and certify financial transactions related to revenues and expenditures
  • Oversee federal accounting recording and reporting functions including the submission of federally mandated reports
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal accounting and reporting requirements
  • Provide complex financial analysis fund accounting compliance and internal control for a significant federal grant program
  • Ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Work closely with project coordinators the Administrative Operations Manager and federal partners to administer program funds and adjust budgets as program needs evolve.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:

This position is in Juneau in the Alaska Office Building. We are in the heart of downtown Juneau within proximity to shopping and restaurants. Covered parking is provided in the adjacent State Office Building parking garage.

Minimum Qualifications:
Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in

  • Financial Analysis:Knowledge of the principles methods and techniques of financial analysis forecasting and modeling to interpret quantitative and qualitative data; includes data modeling earned value management and evaluating key financial indicators trends and historical data.
  • Principles of Accounting: Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles standards and practices (for example double entry accounting accrual accounting) including the full accounting cycle and the preparation of work sheets financial statements ledgers and journals.
  • Reasoning: Identifies rules principles or relationships that explain facts data or other information; analyzes information and makes correct inferences or draws accurate conclusions.
  • Technical Competence: Uses knowledge that is acquired through formal training or extensive on-the-job experience to perform ones job; works with understands and evaluates technical information related to the job; advises others on technical issues.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Any combination of preparatory post-secondary education and/or progressively responsible professional level experience in accounting budgeting or financial management.
