Job Description:
The team is driving a global ECC to S/4HANA journey (currently 1909) combining both
brownfield and greenfield elements: there is an existing ECC landscape but the mandate is
to move to newer S/4 versions while defining global common processes and templates.
This requires someone who is hands-on with delivery very strong technically and
comfortable shaping both process and architecture alongside senior client stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will serve as a local technical leader providing hands-on expertise
guiding project teams and ensuring effective execution throughout the Explore and Realize
phases. This role requires strong technical depth in SAP architecture upgrade
methodologies integrations data migration and system readiness as well as proven
experience driving large-scale SAP upgrade programs
Key aspects of the role:
Senior Project Manager for ECC S/4HANA programs with end-to-end ownership of
delivery.
Proven practical use of SAP Activate (phases deliverables governance and stage
gates) to run complex programs.
Experience across both brownfield and greenfield scenarios ideally on global or
multi-country rollouts.
Very strong technical acumen in S/4HANA and ECC so you can challenge solution
options optimize design and run the project more efficiently.
Current location in Germany with the ability to work in a true ownership mode (not
light on / light off ) and stay engaged with the client and team beyond narrow task
boundaries.
Excellent English communication (verbal and written) and a way of speaking to
customers that builds trust and credibility quickly.
Ability to work with manage mentor and guide global and diverse teams in
fast-paced environments while maintaining strong client relationships and
driving projects/programs to success.
Technical Leadership & Expertise
Lead technical discussions assessments and solution evaluations for the ECC to
S/4HANA upgrade.
Provide hands-on guidance on system architecture integrations enhancements
and custom code remediation.
Evaluate feasibility of proposed solutions and ensure alignment with global SAP
templates and standards.
Serve as the technical point-of-contact for the Germany workstream enabling
informed decision-making.
Project Delivery (Explore & Realize Phases)
Drive key activities within the Explore phase including requirement validation fit-
gap analysis and technical scope definition.
Support the Realize phase by overseeing configuration development testing
readiness defect resolution and technical cutover planning.
Ensure project deliverables timelines and milestones are met according to global
program expectations.
Technical Assessment & Review
Assess depth of technical knowledge within the team and provide feedback to
leadership.
Conduct technical interviews or evaluations of resources being considered for the
project (e.g. validating SAP upgrade expertise).
Identify risks dependencies and required mitigations across the technical
landscape.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with global and regional SAP teams functional consultants
architects and business owners.
Ensure alignment with the global S/4HANA program and support the rollout of the
common global template.
Communicate technical status challenges and recommendations in a clear and
concise manner.
Required Skills & Qualifications
8 years of experience in SAP Technical Project Management or SAP Technical
Lead roles.
Strong hands-on experience with SAP ECC to S/4HANA upgrades including
system conversions and technical migration paths.
Deep knowledge of SAP Basis system architecture integration interfaces custom
code analysis and data migration approaches.
Experience managing Explore and Realize phases within SAP Activate methodology.
Proven ability to lead technical teams conduct technical interviews and assess
skill depth.
Strong communication leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
Must be based in Germany or able to support local Germany teams effectively
