Job Summary

Job Description

We are seeking a Strategic Communications Lead to oversee end-to-end communications for the program ensuring strong positioning consistent brand application and compelling storytelling that reflects impact inclusion and dignified work outcomes. The role will lead the development of communications and brand strategy manage content production and media engagement and translate program evidence into clear accessible narratives across digital print and event channels. Working closely with program research and M&E teams the successful candidate will ensure all communications are high quality compliant and performance-driven while managing creative partners and tracking communications impact against agreed KPIs.

Lead end-to-end strategic communications for the program ensuring clear
positioning consistent brand application and high-quality storytelling that reflects
impact inclusion and dignified work outcomes.
Develop and implement the programs communications and brand strategy
including key messages narrative positioning and communications governance
frameworks.
Ensure consistent application of approved branding and messaging across all
program channels partners and vendors.
Develop and manage an editorial calendar aligned to program milestones including
recruitment training assessments events and learning outputs.
Lead the production of compelling content and knowledge products including
impact stories case studies learning briefs partner spotlights and results
snapshots.
Work closely with Program Research and Monitoring and Evaluation teams to
translate data and evidence into credible and accessible communications materials.
Manage media relations and public relations activities including press releases
media pitches spokesperson briefs talking points and press engagements.
Oversee digital communications channels including website content email
campaigns newsletters and social media activities ensuring accessibility and brand
consistency.
Lead communications planning and execution for key program events including
launches convenings and dissemination sessions.
Manage creative vendors and consultants for content development design
photography videography and PR support.
Establish and maintain communications performance tracking measuring reach
engagement conversion and sentiment against agreed KPIs.
Ensure all communications comply with safeguarding data protection visibility and
approvals requirements including consent management and partner branding
protocols.

Skills & Requirements

Minimum Requirements

Bachelors degree in Communications Marketing Journalism Public Relations
International Development or a related field (Masters degree is an added
advantage).
Minimum of 7 years progressive experience in strategic communications PR or
storytelling roles including leadership responsibility in complex multi-stakeholder
programs.
Demonstrated experience developing brand strategies managing media relations
and delivering digital communications campaigns.
Strong track record producing high-quality written communications including
reports briefs press releases speeches and thought leadership content.

Skills & Competencies

Strong strategic communications planning and execution capability with sound
editorial judgement.
Excellent writing editing and messaging skills with the ability to simplify complex
program information into clear narratives.
Proven media relations and crisis communications capability.
Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills across partners and
vendors.
Evidence-based storytelling skills working confidently with data and results.
High compliance and approvals discipline with attention to audit-ready
documentation.
Inclusion-aware communications approach including accessibility respectful
representation and do-no-harm storytelling.
Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools and familiarity with email marketing website CMS
and analytics platforms.

Emerging Market Model Initiative (EMMI): Implemented in Nigeria in collaboration with several federal and state governments this program uses a blended learning approach to train 36000 youth in digital skills over a year.

Digital for All Challenge: This is a free large-scale digital skilling competition designed to drive digital literacy among youth (ages 16-45) across Nigeria with participants able to win prizes.

Basic Digital Education Initiative (BDEI): This program aims to train 500000 public school students (ages 8-18) and 5000 teachers in foundational digital literacy and STEM concepts.

Digital Skills for the Workplace (DSFW): This initiative focuses on equipping young Africans with top employable skills in areas like software development UI/UX design and cybersecurity through onsite/online learning and internship placements.
