Job Summary
We are seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation this senior role youll bring deep technical expertise in traffic egineering and transportation planning to deliver smart safe and sustainable mobility solutions. This position is an opportunity to guide projects mentor staff and directly shape infrastructure that impacts communities across Pennsylvania.
Work Environment
Hybrid: Three days in-office.
Locations: Lancaster Mechanicsburg Lehigh Valley or Pittsburgh
Position Summary / What Youll Do
As a Senior Traffic Engineer you will lead traffic engineering design and analysis manage transportation projects and serve as a technical resource to clients and colleagues. Youll play a key role in advancing RETTEWs transportation practice and ensuring high-quality project delivery.
Responsibilities / Day-to-Day
- Lead traffic studies signal design corridor planning and safety analyses
- Manage projects from planning through delivery ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction
- Coordinate with municipalities DOTs MPOs and other stakeholders
- Develop proposals scopes and budgets for traffic/transportation projects
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technical staff
- Ensure compliance with PennDOT MUTCD AASHTO and related standards
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or related field
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in PA (or ability to obtain quickly)
- 8 years of progressive experience in traffic engineering/transportation design
- Proven ability to manage transportation projects and client relationships
- Proficiency in traffic analysis/design software (Synchro HCS VISSIM etc.)
Preferred:
- PTOE certification
- Familiarity with PennDOT ECMS and processes
- Experience mentoring and developing engineering staff
- Strong business development skills
