The Head of Reconciliations will lead the global Reconciliations team of 29 FTEs at a leading Asset Manager. This centralized function supports all Middle Office Operations teams in conducting reconciliations across cash positions entitlements client-specific reconciliations market values and additional bespoke reconciliations such as Fund Units to Transfer Agents.
The role requires a strong leader who can balance day-to-day oversight of reconciliation processes with a forward-looking vision to proactively identify inefficiencies strengthen controls and drive innovation. This includes championing the adoption of AI automation and next-generation technologies to simplify workflows reduce operational risk and improve scalability across global operations. They must have strong analytical automation (low code) tooling pro dev capabilities and AI strategies and solutions along with strong interpersonal and communication skills and be able to build and foster relationships at all levels of the firms clients and outsourcing agents organization.
Reconciliation Oversight: Manage daily reconciliation processes ensuring timely and accurate comparison of internal vs. external records across cash positions entitlements client-specific and market value reconciliations.
Break Resolution: Investigate and resolve reconciliation breaks promptly coordinating with custodians fund administrators brokers and internal teams.
Root Cause Analysis: Perform root cause analysis on breaks identifying patterns and implementing sustainable fixes to prevent recurring issues.
Entitlements Management: Oversee reconciliation of entitlements to ensure proper recognition of dividends interest and other income streams.
Industry Leading Technologies: Use industry-leading technologies like Alteryx PowerBI GenAI etc. to develop tools for the operations team to pursue automation and enhance efficiency.
Client-Specific & Bespoke Recons: Support bespoke reconciliation requirements (e.g. Fund Units to TA custom client reporting) with robust controls.
Process Improvement: Proactively identify inefficiencies in reconciliation workflows driving re-engineering initiatives and implementing new tools/technologies.
Innovation & Automation: Champion the use of AI machine learning and reconciliation utilities to streamline operations and reduce manual intervention.
Risk & Control Framework: Maintain a strong control environment ensuring reconciliations are conducted in line with policies regulatory standards and audit requirements.
Team Leadership: Lead coach and develop a global team of 29 FTEs fostering collaboration accountability and continuous learning across regions.
Metrics & Reporting: Track and report KPIs/SLAs on reconciliation timeliness break resolution and operational effectiveness to senior management. 12 years of experience in Reconciliations Middle Office or Investment Operations within Asset Management Custodian Banks or Investment Banking.
Strong knowledge of reconciliation processes including cash positions entitlements client-specific and market value reconciliations.
Proven experience leading global operations teams (20 FTEs) with strong people management and coaching skills.
Familiarity with reconciliation platforms and utilities (e.g. SmartStream DUCO or similar).
Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable process improvements.
Experience with process automation AI and advanced technologies in reconciliations or related operational functions.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to coordinate across custodians administrators and internal operations teams.
Excellent problem-solving analytical and communication skills.
Bachelors degree in Finance Accounting Economics or related field (advanced qualifications a plus).
