Overview

Atkins Realis is seeking a Health & Safety Specialist (H&S Coordinator (T/HIRA) to join our team. This position is based on-site out of Mississauga. We are seeking professionals to join our team to help us build one of the most advanced sustainable and passenger-friendly airports in the world.

The successful candidate will report to the Health and Safety Manager. The purpose of this role is to support the project achieving top-tier Safety and Security results. This involves interfacing across all project teams to establish solid relationships provide leadership on Safety & Security elements resources audits training evaluation of own and contractor/subcontractor systems analyze safety related data and develop programs and processes for the continued improvement of Safety & Security performance.

Your role

• Implements the duties of the health and safety position they are appointed into which could include Onboarding & Training Reporting Incident Investigation and coordinating Threat and Hazard Impact Risk Assessments (T/HIRA).
• Provides subject matter expertise advice and guidance with respect to relevant health and safety matters across the program.
• Works collaboratively with the contractor to confirm that the measures set out in the site-specific safety plan are effectively implemented.
• Undertakes periodic assessments / audits and identifies opportunities for improvement and recommends corrective actions.
• Provides management level reporting and identifies key risks and issues for escalation to the appropriate decision makers.
• Coaching mentoring and supporting the career development of staff.

About you

• Diploma/certificate in health and safety and / or equivalent training experience.
• A minimum of 7 years of professional experience in on-site health and safety role (risk assessment compliance inspection coordinator onboarding and training and / or reporting).
• Strong knowledge of construction legislations regulations and industry best practices.
• Experience in working within construction environments major infrastructure / aviation program experience is considered an asset.
• Experience in conducting comprehensive risk assessment processes to identify analyze and prioritize potential risks across operational health safety and security domains to minimize organizational exposure.
• Demonstrable experience in developing and implementing effective health and safety management plans.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and comfortable in working with the owner consultants and contractors.

Expected compensation for this role is (between Pay Range $100200 - $137700 annually) (Only Applicable to Ontario). Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills experience and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
