This position exists to provide general repair and maintenance work and performs semi-skilled jobs in a variety of trade areas. This position will maintain repair and clean the college buildings grounds and equipment in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them can be made at all times. Primarily responsible for the daily cleaning and maintenance services for the East Campus and the NDT lab. This position will provide assistance to the Plant Maintenance Engineer (PME) in the general repair and maintenance of the HVAC system. This position will also assist with snow and ice removal from parking lots and sidewalks as needed.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND RESULTS
General facilities and equipment upkeep
Performs carpentry related functions so the campus facilities are maintained and improved.
Maintain the Hutchinson East Campus and NDT Lab in neat clean condition. Mechanical Systems Maintenance and Repair.
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the smooth functioning of the department and maintain the reputation of the organization as a viable business partner.
Salary Range:
$26.77-$30.81/ hr.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of general methods and practices of a variety of trade areas (e.g. mechanics masonry welding electrical plumbing and carpentry) sufficient to assist licensed trades workers and to repair machinery tools and facilities in a timely and safe manner.
Knowledge of occupation hazards and safety measures related to trades work sufficient to safely and efficiently perform the job duties. Ability to safely use hand and power hand tools.
Ability to safely operate and maintain trucks tractors and other ground and road maintenance equipment. Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to provide work instructions to unskilled helpers.
Ability to perform physically demanding task.
Must have and maintain a valid class D drivers license.
Preferred Qualification
Special Steam Engineers License or higher or the ability to obtain one.
Wide knowledge of wall and floor coverings (painting of walls vinyl wall coverings flooring materials and repair of various flooring)
Thorough knowledge of building custodial practices and procedures and equipment materials and supplies.
Ability to write reports.
Knowledge of building utilities maintenance and repair on a large facility.
Knowledge of physical building systems such as HVAC Plumbing Electrical to help troubleshoot problems.
Class A CDL License

In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges & Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to MnSCUs vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
